No, it was floating on the water surface. I used a drinking straw and dipped it into the water over and over--every now and again a drop will slide across the water right when you pull the straw out of the water. Gotta be quick to catch it, though! (A method I borrowed from SheilaBrinson -- seriously, check her work out, she's probably my favorite macro artist on DA).
