Description
My love for Eclipsa Butterfly did not run dry after my cosplay , which became outdated once she was more than just a tapestry in Star's dream. I had to make a doll of her that captured her style and expressiveness while doing justice to such a nuanced character. I'm consistently impressed with the writing in Star vs. the Forces of Evil, particularly last season's finale.

Eclipsa stands 15" tall and is made from deer suede and minky, completely from scratch. She has ball jointed hips, knee joints, and inter-changeable arms. Eclipsa has 5 inter-changeable heads with my favorite iconic expressions: neutral, "she got it from her daddy," courtroom panic, Beloved, and motherly love. I redrew and standardized the faces to maintain consistency regardless of expression. These drawings were vectored, digitized, and machine embroidered. I've made 3 of her outfits with great attention to detail: classic, P.J., and court room attire. These are made from a variety of knit fabrics, clasps, and, when necessary, twigs. Of course, Eclipsa wouldn't be complete without her wand, which has an inter-changeable closed and open top, and her beloved daughter, Meteora.

Eclipsa was a pleasure to make, and was even more fun to photograph. This collage represents my favorite shots, but there are so many potential permutations of her face, outfit, and accessories. I consider her an art doll rather than a plushie by sheer merit of her complexity and number of pieces in her repertoire. She represents a great advancement in my skill as an artist and a sweet tribute to my spirit character.
