Description Someone was wondering about how Gaster would react to being tickled and I ended up going off on this tangent. Toriel this is a good way to scare a kid to death.

Exactly.

This tickle attack was peformed by trained professionals in a controlled environment on a timeline that doesn't exist. But maybe, if you study hard and do well in school, you too can tickle skeletons for the amusement of random watchers on DeviantArt someday!

(Because I can't go to Mars with NASA because of my poor vision)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jjars In reply to adoptionsnowcone [2018-06-19 01:00:18 +0000 UTC]

I can't go to Mars because I get queasy on roller coasters. I'm waiting for wormholes, because realistically, there's no way to fly a rocket to another habitable planet. Maybe we could do it if all the astronauts involved had robot bodies, which would solve your eyesight issue, too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

adoptionsnowcone In reply to jjars [2018-06-19 05:24:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, NASA is already working on a way to terraform Mars to make it habitable, then it would be realistically possible.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jjars In reply to adoptionsnowcone [2018-06-19 08:45:48 +0000 UTC]

"Realistically" is pushing it quite a bit. We're talking billions of dollars, decades of time, and a lot of screwups along the way that will be made worse by the media.

In the end, we're probably stuck on the only blue mudball we've got.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

adoptionsnowcone In reply to jjars [2018-06-19 15:11:49 +0000 UTC]

You're ignoring Human determination (ironically enough), we REALLY don't all want to die on the mudball we call Earth, and the fact that we are slowly turning it uninhabitable is a big push in the right direction. Also, NASA isn't the only one working on a way of getting to Mars, private companies are as well, and I bet you that other countries are too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jjars In reply to adoptionsnowcone [2018-06-22 00:05:59 +0000 UTC]

There's "looks impossible, but we can do it with determination", and then there's impossible. No, you cannot exceed the speed of light by trying hard enough. No, you cannot generate a stable, human-safe wormhole by speaking the right magic words.

Besides, moving to Mars wouldn't solve all the problems that are making Earth uninhabitable in the first place. It would just reduce the resources we can work with, since all the tools and supplies we would need to make Mars habitable would have to be delivered from Earth anyway, and the terraforming process will take a very long time no matter how we plan to do that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

adoptionsnowcone In reply to jjars [2018-06-22 03:27:21 +0000 UTC]

True, we cannot exceed the speed of light or create a stable wormhole YET. We just haven't made the right advancements yet.

And once we set up a stable biosphere on Mars, we would be able to begin inhabiting the planet. After that, we would need a few supplies from earth, but is a few years the mars colony would be self-sustaining. I'm too of that, we would be able to mine ore from the planet and possibly ship products to earth to assist in the rehabilitation of the planet.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jjars In reply to adoptionsnowcone [2018-06-22 11:05:55 +0000 UTC]

Maybe we'll find a way to maintain a stable ecosystem on a spaceship for the decades or millenia of time it would take to get out there. There are insurmountable physical laws preventing us from just launching a manned spaceship to Mars and back in a week using the materials we have on Earth. But living on Mars full time would be a resource sink anyway. We need to find a way to gather resources from other planets and bring them back home, not the other way around.

Also, if I remember The Martian (which is a sci-fi story that assumes we can build a much more efficient rocket that can get people to Mars in a workable amount of time without FTL), the biggest problem isn't launching a manned shuttle from Earth to Mars, although it would take years to get there and some very fancy math to not miss the target. The real problem is setting up and launching a rocket from Mars to Earth, since the fuel lines, launch facilities, first-stage booster packs and fuel tanks, etc. are back on Earth. So whatever we send out there won't come back, making mining efforts pointless for everyone but the crew of the rocket.
