Asgore actually asked Gerson about WDG before but Gerson has since forgot, haha. You get that old you forget things! But it does give you a sense for when something is pretty suspicious.
(He's not trying to make them feel bad, he's just concerned)
I never noticed how plump Gerson's arms are until I looked up a reference. :0

"Oh my . . ." the turtle squinted at the metal bolted to the bone. Sans didn't have much experience with expressions outside of Asgore, and the reptile's face had plenty of wrinkles outside of the grimace, but he had a pretty good idea of what it meant.
Gerson himself was transported back to times when some captured monsters were considered property to humans, like any dumb beast. They were tagged in the ear, branded, shackled. He looked surreptitiously at the the edges of the shiny squares for any attachment points for a chain or a lead. No, these seemed to only indicate the owner. Whoever this WDG human was, they were either his first acquisitions, or of some special importance to be named 1 and 2. Hadn't all the skeletons died out? Perhaps he was merely misremembering. Maybe there had been survivors amid all the chaos he'd clawed through. His aged brain was slowing down. Sparse patches of old comrades' words came back to him. Warm magic touches of healing. The warrior darkly wondered if skeletons could feel physical pain with no nerves . . .? Not that he would ask such a question just upon meeting them. He'd had long and rough years, but he had more tact than that. They didn't seem to be in any discomfort, at least . . .? But he had crushing confidence that humans would use any means they deemed fit. Wizards wielding spells were cruel to even other humans. Perhaps these two skeletons were very good at hiding pain? Doubtful. The keen and observant elder glanced over the boys. They seemed very open. His breath eased in his shell a bit.
No doubt the kids had traumatic amnesia. The general had seen it time and time again. The effect seemed to be magnified on magic monsters, whose delicate SOULs often could not deal with humans' sheer brutality. He made a mental note to keep tabs on them after they arrived at Snowdin. They would probably need guidance at some point. But, best not to delve into any of that for their first meeting. They had no idea who he was, and he wanted to merely warn them off investigating any further. That would only lead to more suffering. The memories would come when they were ready. They needed to look ahead right now, not behind.

I have very mixed feeling's for gaster , yeah at first he was horrible no doubt about it but as time went on he became a different person and was letting them do more and have more ,cause remember when alphys found Sans and papyrus? the two had a lot of stuff , but what I'm saying is is that gaster was trying to be nice and I'm sad that he died because maybe gaster made a house for the 3 of them to live in and start over, maybe he wanted to start a family the right way 🤔🤔

It's not because they are very close and do stuff like holding hands that it means they're in love XD I don't really see anything related to incest in any Zarla's undertale comics, just two innocents babies who really love each other, in a (maybe special, but not incestuous) brotherly way. When we see all the things they've been through, I think it's only natural that Sans and Papyrus became like this to each other, even if they don't really remember. What Gaster did has strengthened their relation, they litteraly needed each other in order to survive. Without Papyrus, Sans would have let himself died, and without Sans, Papyrus probably wouldn't have been able to stay strong and full of hope. He would have give up a long time ago, maybe even died too.
So, with all that, and the fact that I don't ship them XD It's impossible for me to see their relation in another way that "brothers". For me they're just kids. You must have seen way too much fanarts or fanfictions to see any "hint of incest" here, I think XD There's not even a single panel with a romantic atmosphere around them, nothing that can make think they're in love. From what I see, you're just imagining things XD I saw some skelebros incest (and I don't really like it so I just ignore and try to avoid that kind of things), but to be honest, I never think of that for Handplates until I read your comment !
Some peoples should learn that you can really love someone without necessarily BEING in love with them XD
