Probably nothing, at this point Gaster has had several reason's to believe that he does not exist in the future, like Papyrus' visions of the future.
There's also the conversation earlier about 'we need railings for the core in case someone falls in'. Gaster may have figured out what would happen if someone did fall in, which also would explain why no one remembers anyone ever having done that.
In short, he is probably only aware that he will be erased from existence soon.

HOLD UP A SECOND!!! ok so we all know gaster gets pushed into the core by sans in a few pages so we will never find out what gaster was planning. So what WAS gaster planning in this page? Was he actually thinking about suicide? That just seems a bit out of character for gaster. And even if he was thinking about it would he really go through with it? What would happen to sans and pap if he did? He would have to think about that. The way he is talking here sounds like he was going to release sans and pap and was afraid everyone would hate him. WHAT WAS GASTER PLANNING!!!!! I NEED ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
