It's somewhat of a thing that, since flowers will just wilt, a potted plant is seen as a more appropriate gift. Flowers still get given, as they are traditionat, but the potted plants are a very go to gift. Want to be romantic? Micro rose bush! Want to wish a happy birthday? Dope potted plant! And, to be honest, I'd accept a potted plant any day, but if you gave me a bouquet, I'd probably look at you and say "... What am I supposed to do with this?"

God, how is this somehow more depressing than regular Handplates. This was rough for me to read. I felt so bad for Asgore, being reduced to sheepishly begging strangers for food. I was hoping against hope that Gaster might take a little pity on him, but no...

It occurs to me that, in the Deltaplates(?) AU, Gaster never reaches the pits of despair and pain that he does in Handplates, but he never finds the (however ephemeral) happiness that he does either, as when he was with the Dreemur family.
