So I've been working on this since March >_> It's finally done! I've learned so much, but I'm so happy that it's done and I can focus on less ambitious projects. About 36 character sculptures and countless hours of work went into creating this illustration. I'm calling this unique art style "sculptural illustration". Everything has either been hand sculpted and photographed and/or digitally painted and the only software used was Photoshop. The process is very similar to how stop-motion animation is created, but with an illustration being the final product.

Many of the kirbies were sculpted out of Play-doh in hopes of keeping them quick and rough. I used the same base Kirby for a lot of the different copy abilities too so recycling helped. Warp Star Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta-Knight were crafted with more time and care and better materials as was Fountain of Dreams. Yes the Fountain is hand sculpted, I'm going to share an image of the fountain itself at some point here soon.

I wanted to represent the whole 25 year span of the Kirby series, and I think i've accomplished that. I also wanted to have Smash Bros. represented prominently since it's such an important series to me. How many Smash Bros. references can you spot?
