Description Like many older stations, Oker has two signal towers, one at either end, controlling it's respective signals and switches. The more well-known one is the eastern one, as you can see it easily from the road. German signal towers always have cryptic names, and Oof here is no exception, although there is usually some sense behind it. In this case, as far as I can tell it translates to Oker Ost (East) Fahrdienstleiter (my favorite online dictionary lists movements inspector, station inspector and traffic superintendent as translations. Take your pick).

Pushing it's train from Hanover to Bad Harzburg (five minutes late) past that signal box is yet another class 218 diesel locomotive.

Would "Oker East (Rail-)traffic control" be a nice translation?

I hate going out in this kind of weather but the colour contrast is usually fantastic.
