I wouldn't say that. This (according to the time line as I understand it), would be the first time that Maelstrom has seen any of the deviants in action. The absolute earliest he could have came in was right after the defeat of Omega, so chances are, while the others we asleep, he probably didn't get to witness them in action. And this would be at his earliest arrival, any later would of given him less time.
