I think Mufasa actually died from the fall since there were no signs of hoof trampling on his body.

If that was the case, he would have gotten up just fine, because Scar survived the fall much higher than Mufasa, and Simba survived a fall like that, twice. Also, this is Disney, they wouldn't show any wounds or anything like that.

Well, i don't even think that they themselves had all the fault. I mean, it was Scar who told the hyenas to start the stampede, and i bet the wildebeests weren't even aware of Mufasa or Simba being there, they were jyst fleeying from danger.

Well in herd living animals there's this phenomenom called, well, the "herd reaction" (i think that's what it's called) where if a single animal goes somewhere, the entire herd follows. And do you think an entire herd was gonna stop and help a single animal in distress, let alone a predator that feeds on them?
