Day 15 and our final entry (for the moment) for Unamused Ungulates, the saiga. This antelope is famous for having a large bulbous snout which it uses to breathe more easily in dusty plains and freezing weather. It lives in central and western Asia but it used to have a much larger range in the Pleistocene, from the British Isles to Canada. Another thing that makes this antelope notorious is how it lives in an almost constant demographic rollercoaster with near extinction levels of mass mortalities caused by climate change, hunting and diseases followed right up by booming breeding seasons that boost their populations incredibly which has made lots of news articles in recent years.
