Description These actually only came about because, when I isolated the characters, their backgrounds just seemed a bit empty. So I figured some snazzy, Star-Wars-themed Avatar symbols would give the characters some good company. And the central, Raava-style emblem just arrived to make an unusual surface for the whole gang to stand on in the group piece.

But they turned out quite cool, and it was bunches of fun to reinterpret the original organic designs in the more isometric style of Star Wars. So I wanted to give them their own spotlight too. :J

Of course I love this crossover idea. I've been writing one, but there are some... issues...

Well a person suggested to make it fit in the LoK universe, if have to get rid of the sci-fi technology (which was easy look up Je’daii) and create original lore... which is the hard part.

ZedEdge In reply to Burke23 [2018-07-30 22:13:33 +0000 UTC]

Aha - I see. Alrighty! Well if that's the case:

Try designing an equivalent of something from the original lore, but with the unique aspects of the new lore (like how we use various renewable or fossil fuels to power cities, but in LoK they use lightning benders).

Don't try making it all at once - get a good understanding of it first and then let the details evolve as you tell the story.

Look up some guides and advice - the YouTuber "Ellen Brock", has got some great universal guidelines.

Here's what I've got (will probably change names later):
-Force sensitivity is brought about by two spirits (SeeΒ Daughter Β andΒ Son Β ) blessing people with light side and dark side sensitivity respectfully. They lived in peace on an isolated island far fromΒ any land mass and separated by a perpetual Force storm(closest one being the southern water tribe continent. I like to call it Avatar Antarctica.). However the Son is a tricky beast and tempts people to only follow one side instead of a balance of both. He does this to not only dark side users, but light side users. His goal was power, power from direct dark side use, which he knew would also strengthen his sister. The first battle of the Force was basically the Sith rebellion in which the Avatar Sith left the Avatar Jedi island behind. This is where the weapon age of the Avatar Jedi and Sith, and the Jedi and Sith Avatars would soon be born.
-The origin of the Jedi and Sith Avatars takes place several millennia after the segregation of the Avatar Jedi and Sith, and several centuries after the start of the Force Civil War. There was a Jedi named Qi Tzai (key sigh), who requested a Force-imbued blade Β from the best weapon-smith on the island, a woman named Ashla. She agreed, but said it would take her a whole year to get to the weapon completed. But Qi Tzai is an impatient man, but tells her to go through with it anyway. But on his way to his home he runs into a shady man by the name of Bogan. And he says he can get the job done in a quarter of the time, but he would have to sign a contract first. Qi Tzai of course does this and when he gets the sword in three months, Bogan reveals himself to be the Son and possesses him, creating the first Force Avatar... and he's a Sith. Of course he lays waste to the Jedi for several months (with gaps of rest time of course) until a nameless Jedi approached the weapon-smith. The Jedi requests a weapon that can defeat the Sith Avatar. Ashla says that no such weapon exists. The Jedi then begs for help, and at first the weapon-smith refuses, but she sees the potential within the Jedi and agrees, but she would have to wait for her to finish the sword she was making Qi Tzai. The Jedi went off, meditated, and trained for the inevitable fight. When the sword was finished, the weapon-smith revealed herself to be The Daughter herself, and she requests to bond with her. The Jedi Accepts, Becoming the first Jedi Avatar, and Giving herself the name 'Spirit'. once they bond they do many legendary things in search of the Sith Avatar. Inevitably the Sith Avatar and the Jedi Avatar fight ending in both of them dying and the spirits of the Daughter and the Son to inhabit random Jedi/Sith whenever they are needed.
-The Jedi, once they are discovered by scouters, are stripped of everything, even name, and taken to the island of the Jedi and are trained to find strength and they forbid anything that could lead to the dark side, including love.
-The Sith use similar methods only they teach that power is everything.

Wow - you're totally right! It wasn't an intentional similarity, but I've played with Bionicles a bunch, so it may very well have been a subconscious inspiration.

These are VERY freaking awesome! Im not too into Star Wars, but even I can appreciate hard work when I see it. Good job

Β Question though. Who's in the reflection of the center one? Each of the other 4 have someone in its reflection, so who's the person in the center? Or are you making them right now?

ZedEdge In reply to CR-tist [2016-10-21 08:05:16 +0000 UTC]

Well hey, thanks a bunch! That's grand to hear.

Nice observation on the center reflections - you're the first to spot it. While building this presentation, I considered just using solid colors within each symbol, but had the thought of placing the characters in there would be more interesting. However when I got to the middle symbol, I got a bit stumped as to who to put there. So I actually just combined pieces from all the characters, and shifted the colors to make a ambiguously identifiable form. Here's the piece I used:

Can I ask what Star Wars designs or factions inspired each one? I can easily recognize the Rebel Phoenix in the Fire Nation one, and the water and air ones remind me of Clone Wars symbols.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ZedEdge In reply to daftPirate [2016-10-14 06:02:09 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that's super cool that you can spot identity the symbols in there! Overall, I limited the design styles so that these had very unified look (like the crescent moon shape seen in each of them).

As you noted, the fluidity of the Rebel's symbol inspired the Fire Nation's. And the Water Tribe and Air Nomad symbols were kind of a mix of things, but certainly have some parallels to the Galactic Roundel . The block-like Sith's emblem was a natural basis for the Earth Kingdom. And lastly, both the Galactic Alliance and Jedi crests were good references for Raava's symbol.

They're symbols that represent each four elements from the show "Avatar: The Last Airbender" - here are the originals: goo.gl/IJXCre
And the central symbol is based of a spirit character from the show - here's that one: goo.gl/anV3GC

I was looking for a universal symbol to use in the group shot, so thought something Raava-like would work. But it's only the top portion of her design and quite stylized, so that's reasonable for it not to be immediately recognized.
