Description

If you're happy to let story be put aside for style, then I heartily recommend Guy Ritchie's King Arthur. Simply jam-packed with style.

And while listening to the soundtrack, I was compelled to paint the Hun-man himself. Here's what I referenced: goo.gl/jb1x9q

The goal of this study was the same as the film - accuracy to the source: low priority - having fun with style: full priority.

The square brushstrokes give such a rugged and bold look. I dig it!

I personally LOVED this movie. I like that they changed the normal story up, since we've had King Arthur multiple times before.  What's the point of just doing the same thing all the time? And I don't understand the reviews that hated it, they complain about unoriginal plot movies, but then complain when they're done (mostly in this movies case).

I looooooooove this art! Is there significance to the facial marking?

Oh awesome - yeah, I feel similarly. Though, if someone's adapting something, I feel like it should keep some accuracy to the original, otherwise it may just feel like reusing the title. But, as you say, that doesn't make the overhaul inherently bad. And in this case, I'd say the overhaul was thoroughly entertaining.

Regarding the marking - it's actually the runes that appear on Excalibur . I just thought including somehow would make for something a little more interesting than a standard portrait study. 'u'

Knowing now that the runes are from Excalibur make this even better! <3

Probably one of my favorite fantasy films in the sense of artistic representation and atmosphere. The cinematography was so freaking good too! I'm more of a visual person myself so I dug it, but I definitely understand folks' quarrels with the story. I would love to see them get a second chance at it and adopt some of the more traditional stories of Arthur. Great art by the way! lol

Right on! I'm exactly there with you. The story is really just the ticket onto the ride, and sensory experience was the roller-coaster itself.

Super cool to hear, dude. And, glad you like the paintin'.

I really dig the effect of using short strokes with a square brush. That's a neat effect!

Oh thanks! Good observation.

I guess it's kind of the same hand motion to sketching, and I'm just so in the habit of that.

Oh, thanks - I'm flattered. But it didn't actually take so crazy long. With enough practice your hand just knows where to go on its own.
