I recently stumbled across this masterful artist, Satoshi Matsuura . The way his characters are made up of shapes that each have their own personality is just brilliant - and it seemed like a perfect fit for PokΓ©mon. So, I kind of let Satoshi-san take over my mind, and draw these for me.Β
And they're now, like, my favorite drawings I've ever done - haha

I think my favorite is Feraligatr - both in the game and in this piece. He's just got some much attitude. How about you?

As far as the game goes, I almost always went with Typhlosion. Main reason being I liked playing Gen II on "easy" mode. Though with a recent purchase of a Nintendo SD, I may just try something a little different. Haven't decided yet.
My preference for everything else like aesthetics and what-not will always be Feraligatr. It's probably my second favorite Pokemon after Arcanine.

Haha - yeah, I've never really grasped the complexity of PokΓ©mon battles. But for the next game I'm thinking of doing a Nuzlock challenge to make it extra painful.

Geez, this is awesome! I think my favorite one is Feralligator because his caveman-like posture and facial expression are hilarious, but Typhlosion is super adorable too.

I love how the grass, water, and fire symbol are essentially the same, just tilted or warped a bit. So awesome.

My first starter ever was Charmander, but then 2nd generation came out and Cyndaquil became my starter and somehow managed to grow on me more. I love seeing my fav starter in your style. I also love that buff water gator.
The shapes of all their bodies came out great. I enjoy seeing cartoon artists go crazy with them. Your shapes do fit the pokemon's general personalities too.
By the way, I didn't know Satoshi Matsuura, thanks for the link! I just followed them on Instram.

Oh, nice! Thanks so much. Charmander was my starter too. ^u^ In all my creativity back then, I called him "Red" (had no idea the trainer was called Red too - haha).
Anyway, I'm really glad you can still recognize them in this crazy style. And thanks so much following Satoshi - I feel like he gets most of the credit for this piece.
