Appearance:
Swiftstep is a pretty slender and lean tom. He inheritied this from his mother, who was a very small she-cat. He is about the avaerage size and height of any other cat, and though he is a tiny bit shorter, it is not very notcicable. His pelt is a dark gray, with a lighter underbelly, paws, and tail-tip. Most of the time, it is smooth and a little puffy, even though it is short. And while he might be short-haired, it is not as short as a siamese's pelt, and a little poofy. His fur at his tail gets thicker and longer, due to being part Angora. It also gets slightly thicker around the back of his neck. His eyes are bicolored, to say the least. One is a yellowish-amber color, while the other is a bright green. He wears an earring that was given to him by a kithood friend. He currently has no scars.

Personality:

= Neutral trait
= Bad trait
- Sarcastic - Impulsive - Friendly - Aloof - Humorous -
Sarcastic
Swiftstep is known to be extremely sarcastic at times, even if he doesn’t try to be. This is both a pro and a con to his nature, because of the way he really doesn’t control it, and this just happens to be his way of speaking thoughts or feelings to others. Most of the time, he uses his abundance of sarcasm in a comical way, either for fun or to comfort others. If he does happen to offend someone, he is usually unaware of it, and doesn’t notice unless someone points it out to him.
Impulsive
Though Swiftstep can be very smart and intelligent if needed, he often does not use this to his advantage. Instead of thinking, he jumps into action, not caring of what the consequences can be. This can be a downside to others around him, as they often receive negative impacts from his reckless actions. But, he can use it to do selfless things, such as instinctively take a hit for someone else.
Friendly
Many cats look over this characteristic to his personality, blinded by his ignorance and sarcasm. In truth, Swiftstep is a very optimistic and friendly cat. He hates seeing others in pain, and tries to help out those in need or anyone who’s feeling a little down. He may have gotten this trait from his younger brother, who was always caring for cats who were weak and couldn't fend for themselves.
Aloof
Even though Swiftstep is extremely loud and obnoxious, he can be quite distracted when hearing others out. When he is found listening to another cat, he is usually fiddling with something or staring into the distance. He hears what the cat has to say, but only half his mind actually processes the words. The other half is… Well, I have no idea. He can also blurt things out randomly and not notice what he's saying.
Humorous
Swiftstep enjoys being social, playing games, and being with pretty much anyone. Because of his social nature, humor is a must-have for all of his relationships. He loves making others laugh, just because it makes him feel accomplished and happy. This may also be because of his hate of seeing others in pain, and the feeling he gets when someone needs help.
Secretive
Staying almost hand in hand with his aloofness, Swiftstep can be very secretive. He has only told a selected few, if any, cats about his past. He feels that if he tells other cats that he will only burden them with his problems. This leads to him barely expressing his true feelings, and only acting as how he sees he should be for the better of others. But, if it is a secret he feels is meant to be revealed, he will do so without hesitataion.

Mother (deceased)- Rose
Rose was a kind she-cat, and she was respected by all who knew her. She raised Swiftstep and his younger brother, Dakota. She died in the Calamity. She was a light brown tabby with white paws, underbelly, and muzzle and soft green eyes.
Father (status unknown)- Stoop
Bulky, strong, and muscular, Stoop was a cat of Skinner's Gang. He was father to Swiftstep and Dakota, and was mates with Rose. He was a dark gray tom with darker paws and tail-tip, and peircing amber eyes.
Younger Brother (deceased)- Dakota/Dako
Dakota was Swiftstep's younger brother, and one of his only friends. He was smart, sweet, and kind to all. He deeply resembled their mother, and was like her in many ways. He was a light brown tabby tom with darker paws, ear-tips, and tail-tip and soft blue eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
History:
Stoop and Rose were the most unlikely of mates. One blood-thirsty and devilish, the other kind and angelic. They were polar opposites, from different worlds. One a gang cat, one a rogue. Yet somehow they managed to stay in secrecy, making vows of love and dedication. They made promises to be together forever, but, oh, how that changed. Once Rose had announced that she was having kits, Stoop was gone in the blink of an eye. He never wanted kits. All he wanted was to be with her. Only her.
They were both heartbroken. Alone. Exactly where they started.
Then she was gone.
The two, fueled by anger, sadness, and desperation, attempted to start new lives. To forget about one another and continue on with their existence as if nothing had ever happened between them. And so, alone, Rose made her way into the contryside, away from her former den near Skinner's Gang. It wouldn't have been a good place to raise kits anyway. There, she found a new den, and raised her kits. It was a smooth dirt hollow in the side of a hill, lush green grass expanding as far as the eye could see. Nothing too fancy or formal, but good enough. It was a generally quiet area, except for another family of rogues, who resisded over the far hill.
Rose watched as her two kits grew, caring for them and loving them every step of the way. But, there were times when they reminded her of her lost love; what could have been. The two kits grew up in a state of blissful ignorance, never learning who their father was, or ever thinking about him, for that matter. Despite what was on their and their mother's mind, life kept on going.
It wouldn't stop; not for them, not for anyone.
Everything was peaceful. Prey was plentiful, and the sun was out almost every day. The two kits grew older with every moon, Rose unknowingly preparing them for what was to come. Time passed slowly, as if it was a timebomb waiting to explode. And everyone knows a countdown ends eventually.
The day Swiftstep (Kano at the time) lost everything appeared normal. Sure, the birds weren't singing, but it isn't that unusual for birds to stay silent for a day or two. The sun might have been a little dull that day, but weather does change, right?
Boom.
The world seemed to explode, the ground cracking and engulfing the once beautiful countryside and turning it into a barren, ashen landscape.
The countdown was complete.
Swiftstep stared in horror as he watched his mother become buried beneath the rubble of the old ceiling of their former den. Trying to escape, he made a break for the now crumbling entrance. He made it. Partially. Stuck beneath rubble, stone, and dirt, he scanned the horizon for his younger brother, who had gone hunting before the world had turned inside out. Swiftstep called out to him, his voice hoarse and half choked from the amount of dust and ash in the air. Repeatedly calling out to his only brother, he realized that he would, most likely, never see him again. The chances of his feeble little brother surviving something like this were slim.
Now he had truly lost everything.
The moons following were a struggle for all cats who had survived the Calamity. It was a pity that most of those cats had given up on hope to ever live normal lives again. Swiftstep tried to carry on with life; trying to forget about his brother and mother. This was difficult, as he could always find himself expecting his family to appear out of nowhere, and he anticipated every rustle of a bush to be his brother bounding out to greet him. But this never happened. Of course, he never really believed that they were still alive, but part of him wanted to; he forced himself to believe this. And though he, and many other cats, had survived, he found that he had nothing left to live for. He had become a shell of a once happy cat; nothing more than a cat who had lost all hope. Even when he did come across cats that had not been mutated to fit this dark world, they, too, had let go of their happiness, faith, and hope.
But something changed.
As Swiftstep continued his journeys to who knows where, he could hear something. A cat, no, maybe even two. Their voices seemed to ring out across the landscape, yet they didn't seem real. They spoke of the Calamity, and they spoke out to all living cats. He began to listen, ignoring the fact that he had no idea where these voices were coming from.
"We are Hopflight and Lynxtail, warriors of what were once great clans." Hopflight? Lynxtail? Who are these cats? He didn't know. One thing he did know, though, was that he was going to find these cats. Their words had given him hope, something that he hadn't felt in a long time. He had no idea how they were speaking to him, and maybe other cats too, but he answered them, and thanked them for their words.
"Whoever you are, and wherever you are, thank you. I will find you, and join you and your Safe Haven. I'm not sure if your message has reached our lost friends and family, but I pray it has. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
He hoped that they had heard him, and he set off to find this Safe Haven of sorts. Maybe he would even find his family again.
That would give him back his happiness. That would give him happiness indeed.
To be continued...

Roleplaying Preferences: I prefer to RP by note. I can RP by comments, but I'm not so good at keeping track of them. I am also a student, so weekdays I tend to be pretty busy, though I might be able to slip in a few RPs here and there.

Roleplay Example: "Dako!" Kano called out into the distance, "Where are you?!" he began to panic, struggling against the rocks that held him down. He glanced back at the rubble that had piled up behind him and onto Rose. "Mother! Can you hear me?!" his head whipped back and forth, searching for signs of movement from the rocks and the ashen landscape. "Can anyone hear me?!" he pleaded out to no one, hoping for a reply. None came. He let his head droop. I'll never see him again... His head perked up as he thought of something. There's a chance Rose is alive! If I could just get out from under these rocks... He struggled, trying to break free. One wrong move sent a wrenching pain up his shoulder, and he yelped, suprised by the sudden pain. "No..." No, no, no, no!! I can't stay here! I have to get out!! The air was thick with dust and ash, and he struggled to breathe as he fought against the stone weights that held him down. "Please! Someone?! Anyone!?"
