corrupted Artorias's left hand is basically dust inside the armor, so he can't exactly use that.

Thank you for the compliment! As for directions, I learned everything from looking at how video game sprites were drawn. One of the games that made me get really into pixel art was Seiken Densetsu 3, but overall I got a lot from Castlevania sprites. It might be best to find your favorite artist or game and study how their pixel art works. There are a couple of guides out there that will help you out, www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum… is probably the most popular one floating around.
Art takes a lot of practice if you don't have a natural talent for it. It's best to have patience when you're just starting something new, so don't get demotivated if nothing amazing comes out. I see a lot of pixel artists who rush just to release something. I really don't like this approach. Whenever I get back to working on a sprite or scene the next day or week, I'll realize "this doesn't look right" and fix it. If you feel like you spend too much time on something. Yes, move on to something else, but don't give up on something just because it doesn't immediately come to you.

hey there awesome work!!! this is a tad awkward to ask but could you make an basic attack, forward jump (like he does in-game), and run animation i'm making a pixel version dark souls type game and you will defiantly be credited of coarse, i'm trying to work on my programming skills but sadly i have no pixel art skills and it would be fantastic if you would contribute ^^

Hi there, right now I'm a busy working on some projects and other personal things. So, while I do take requests that's a bit much. I might try to make more animations for some Dark Souls sprites at some point later, but I'm not sure if I'll do it for the Artorias sprite or a completely different character. Oh, thanks. I'm not sure what to say, I've been working on and off in art for years so I have practice with both digital and traditional arts so that helps my pixel and animation works.
GraphicsGale is a great tool to me, but it might not be a tool that fits you. There are several other art programs out there that could work for pixel art, even MSPaint. One other thing, patience is a major key in improving. For some people, it might just click and they'll instantly be able to start drawing game level art. While others take much longer to get there.
Aside from that, there are several tutorials out there that can help you out with pixel art stuff. Here's one for example: www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum… You can google for other helpful ones, too.
