Kiddy Kong curiously doesn't seem as popular as the other Kongs, especially not compared to the other protagonists of the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy, but I've always liked him. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! is often considered the weakest of the three, but I don't think that's fair - I think all three are of a similar level of extremely high quality. When we were introduced to Kiddy back in 1996, I hoped for a Donkey Kong Country 4 where Kiddy was the star alongside another new Kong to follow the pattern of the others. Ultimately, we only ever really saw Kiddy again in Donkey Kong Land 3 and in the GBA remake of Donkey Kong Country 3 (which did have new levels and bosses!) It was nice to see him show up as a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate recently, even if he did have to share with Dixie.
