More oooold art, 2017 has been a hell of hard year and I don't have too much to post but here is something... at least :')Whatever, I watched Gantz: O early this year, even when the plot was not my cup of tea I fanboy-ed so hard at the art (go watch it people for the sake of CGI, creature designs and overall aesthetics) and of course, because Gantz was part of my childhood, the nostalgia was real.
Well, I couldn't resist to draw Kato, he's my fav since I watched the anime back then. He have a "weird" formula as a character, he's realistic and unrealistic at the same time... I like when he cry, the fact he have doubts and insecurities about himself in the battle, that makes him more human and reachable but at the same time he's too compasionate and kind, he legitimally admire his friend without being jealous (watching at you, Izumi) and that makes him sort of unrealistic, way too pure to be real
(also he's handsome, tall and have a nice hair, as a plus).I've read the manga again just months ago so there's a chance of making another fanart about Gantz (probably Kato again, heh)

AAAA I loved this movie! The action, animation, and surprises kept me hooked. I'd never heard of Gantz before this movie popped up in my Netflix recommended. But I'm proud to say I'm (almost) a full fledged fan of the series now :3 In all honesty Oka was my fav character (I'm a sucker for Mecha) and I was kinda sad he didn't get more screen time. But Kato did have a lot more humanization than a lot of the other characters in the movie, which made him so relate able and, well, human. It made you want to root for him, so he could live through it unharmed and go home to his bro! (Plus I didn't want him to have scars on his beautiful face >///< )

Fully agree what you say about him! Also wished he was longer the leader(more missions after the Osaka mission), but since lots of Kurono-fans complained, the chance is high that the artist had to bring him back earlier. Especially knowing that Oku's favourite character is Katou. Wanted to see how he evolves. If he would ever learn that he can't safe everyone's lifes. If his dark side shows up, etc.
Liked the early Kurono(before he met Tae), which added a more interesting chemistry between him an Katou.
Glad to see more people that like him. Katou feels a bit underappreciated.

Omg yes, I started reading the manga because of him and I was so happy to see him as main character on the Osaka arc, I never was a fan of Kurono (he's too childish and average for my taste) so I I didn't miss him, but I had the hope to see Katou as main character before the Osaka arc, is kinda sad that autors had to change things in order for please the fans

One of the main problems with Gantz was there were too many(cool)characters at once later on. And on top of that, the artist kept focusing on Kurono and his relationship, even after he fully evolved. I found the whole Tae-chase really annoying, especially since that arc could be used for something more interesting(like Katou i.e. 
And like you said, Katou still had tons of potential. It is so frustrating; for a main character, he certainly didn't got the love/attention he deserved. Also agree; Kurono is not very interesting(especially in the later parts), he was at least entertaining when he was a horny jealous teen.
Gantz is still a thing. They have now Gantz G going. Really hope the artist makes a sequel with Katou as the main character.
