All hail Finland's independence day!
Today, in the year of 2015 Finland has been an independent country for glorious 98 years!
Unlike many other countries, Finland didn't have an independence war. No. We were planing a fight, though. But we would have had to fight against Soviet Union, and being the small country we would have needed someone to support us. Unfortunately, none of our allies was willing to go to war against Soviet Union. So what did we do? We actually walked up to Soviet Union's current leader Lenin and asked for independence. By some luck we actually got it. Lenin's plan was to get us back later on, like they did with Estonia, for example, but Finland has stayed independent ever since. (In your face, Lenin!!!)

Well, we have the flag of Finland. Duh!
Then we have this female with blond hair. Due to the shape of our country, we often speak of "Suomi-neito" (Finland maid), which is the specific reason this character is a woman. The blonde hair comes from a Finnish stereotype.
And nope, we don't have lions in Finland. It's just the animal we happen to have in Finland's arms (???)

Oh wow that is interesting! I forgot how long ago Canada had independence since I do remember in history getting to know how Canada had to follow the UK for the longest time but feel like maybe sometime in 1905 or along that Canada got independence.. *looks it up because feel like the 1905 thing is something else* Oh... ok I knew the date but not the year LOL XD. Canada independence day July 1 1867 so that means... if I looked up the right thing (I literally googled 'canada's independence day' XD) that means... Canada has been independent from the British/UK for... 148 years this year likely 149 next year. I swear maybe 1905 was the year when Alberta became a province or something maybe. Yaaayy canadian history mix up faaail XDD
Yay for Finland though! 98 years. I swear I read the date thinking.... why are you putting this up when it says 6.12.15 since I read that as month.date.year. So I thought June 12 omg XDD forget that there can be those that date it day.month.year. I just got to get used to that but eh excuse me if you ever get any comments from me because of misreading the date XDD.
Omg the stereotypes of any country XD I swear if I did Canada.... ok then again it would follow the stereotypes of Canada in Hetalia... which is likely browny blonde (dirty blonde..?) quiet and mostly unnoticed by most of the world... I forget if I asked about knowing that series. But i am sure they have a Finland character based on Finland sterotypes.
bet Canada is old... whether from the independence or when it was first a country... and now I may look THAT up XDD

Yay! Hetalia is awesome~. Eh yea a while after I wrote the comment before you replied I had to be all uhhh look it up XD. Oh? Eh you are Finnish soooo not like I can deny that. It is sad that there are some things about Canada I didn't know? I mean one time I had to look up explanations for the countries in Hetalia and... they tend to choose a name for them that is common. Canada's is Matthew and USA (Or America as I remember them going with) it is Alfred. I like Canada even if it can be all "well he represents your country so..." but no... ok yea that but also the way he is in the series it is fitting to how it was for Canada. Even if the anime/series is a humorous way of doing events in the world wars and all. Canada's polar bear is cute... eeeh I am so rambling on XD. Wonder how it would be if they made the Hetalia Finland a blonde girl maid.. hm.
...I did... said the date Canada was made is the same as the independence day. No matter how I word it it came with July 1st 1867. Maybe the development of the provinces within Canada are another set of dates... omg Canada XD.
