Description

The wolves of Ōkami Tsuki are at war with each other, and only one Pack shall be victorious

Ōkami Tsuki's wolf packs have been at war with each other. The wolves believe in different things, believe that there should only be one group of gods: Their own. They fight, they kill, they torture...and they make no headway in the battle. The Packs are at a stalemate, unable to take down one another, unable to grasp the concept that the war should not even be happening. They fight like savages, as if they were born in the forests of Juuma, the place where only murderers live. They act as cruel, blood-thirsty monsters, unable to control their hunger. They tear each other apart with fangs and claws and weapons, and they don't even realize what they're doing.

There are three  very well-known groups, and then one other group who is less-known. The Sun, Lunar, and Eclipse are the real Packs, the original Packs, the ones that were created in the time of Ōkami Tsuki's Formation.

The Sun are the cruelest and most violent of the wolves. They believe that their gods were the ones who won wars, the strongest of any god any wolf thought existed. They enjoy watching wolves suffer, and if they have prisoners, they will not let them die, but rather torture them with whips and poisons. It is known for them to fight with wolves from their own groups, sometimes even known to brutally injure or even kill them. Their howls are the most blood-chilling of any wolf, sounding like the screams of a dying or suffering victim. In their eyes other wolves can see hatred and anger and hunger for blood, and if they are down in a battle with a wolf of Sun standing over them, they can be certain that they will become prisoners. It is known that prisoners escape, but many times, they are missing limbs or are blind, and they are covered in scars from the torture they endured.

The Lunar are the most silent and mysterious of the wolves. They think that their gods are the wisest, the ones who use their wits to win wars. They are much like the Sun, but it is most-common for them to strike fear into their enemies before delivering the final blow with large, powerful paws. They are known to take prisoners, as well, but once they get all the information they can from the prisoners, they kill them swiftly with a bite to the throat or an enormous paw being brought down over their spine, snapping it and killing the wolf instantly. In the eyes of a wolf from Lunar, another would be able to see curiosity and mystery, along with a hunger for knowledge. If a wolf is at the paws of a wolf of Lunar, then they know that they will most-likely be killed quickly and painlessly, or perhaps taken prisoner. They know that they are not tortured, but threatened and their families will be killed, and once all the information they know is received by their captors, they are killed quickly, no pain felt. A wolf escaping from Lunar has never been known, but some wolves believe that a wolf who is captured, is changed, and even if they do escape, they decide they want to leave their own Pack to join Lunar.

The Eclipse are the kindest and most thoughtful of the wolves. They believe that their gods are the ones who win wars with reasoning, and therefore, they try to negotiate with the other Packs to end battles and wars, but they are thought the weakest by the other Packs. They hate blood-shed, but if they have to fight, they will fight fiercely and with much courage, not afraid to blind another wolf, not afraid to make other wolves have injuries so great that they eventually die from the wound. They prefer, if forced to kill, to make it a quick snap of the spine, for they cannot stand the taste of blood from their own kind. They do not take prisoners, and they do not strike a wolf down that may be at their paws. Instead, they walk away, trying to forget about the wolf. They do not believe that torture is right, and if a wolf of Eclipse is ever discovered torturing another wolf, no matter the Pack, they are exiled, and never allowed to return to the Eclipse. They are not blood-thirsty, nor power-hungry or cruel, but kind and understanding of others. In the eyes of a wolf of Eclipse, another could see empathy, kindness, happiness, and sorrow, all at the same time time.

The Outsiders - also called Outcasts by some wolves - do not believe in gods, nor do they worship anything, and they are a very small group with one, maybe two Packs of Outsiders, while there can be many of the other three groups. The Outsiders are not very well-known by the other groups, but they do not know of the others very well, either. They are curious, sometimes too curious for their own good, and very enthusiastic and ready for adventure. They have stayed out of the war between Sun and Lunar against Eclipse, but they don't even know of the war. They are so adventurous that it is known that wolves of the Outsiders can disappear for many years before returning unscathed and filled with many tales of the places they visited. In the eyes of an Outsider a wolf can see joy and humor, adventure and loyalty, laughter and merriment, all at once, for they are a cheery wolf and always stick together.

The Outsiders will learn about the war, but what they think of wolves hating one another and fighting like savages may be what changes the tide of war...
