From this POV she looks so majestic, maybe he's simply kneeling for her. I love the transition from human to horse, it looks so natural.

No idea, That they were all savage warriors and hated humans maybe?
Once upon a time there was a man who was making his way through the forest on his horse,
He was armed and wore armor because he had heard of all kinds of savage creatures that lived in the forest including Lions and Tigers and Centaurs and he was rather terrified of encountering any of them although he had never come across one himself.
"Easy girl, we'll soon be out of here."
He patted his horse as he rode on.
Everything seemed quiet and peaceful, Suddenly he heard a rattling on the ground.
His horse neighed with a shriek and reared up.
"GAHHHHH!"
Down he fell, His horse bolted and ran off.
But he was hardly looking at his horse because just a couple of feet in front of him was a strange snake with a...rattle? on it's tail that it shook faster than he could see.
The snakes eyes were locked on him.
He was frozen in terror and the snake coiled back for a strike right into his face.
His eyes clinched shut at that moment.

(WHOCK!)
The rattling stopped.
"W..Whu"
He opened his eyes and saw a knife buried into the ground that had cut the snake's head off.
"Are you alright?"
He looked up,
There was a pretty female centaur wearing some armor and a modest dress holding the knife.
"Are you alright sir?" 
He felt a wave of fear go through him for a second and just nodded dumbly.
"Well then please get up, You don't have to grovel like that before me."
she said with a laugh. :-D
"I won't hurt you, unlike those nasty snakes.
Snakes and holes in the ground are a centaur's worst enemy after all."
she said with a little shiver of disgust looking at the snakes twitching body as she sheathed her knife.
She reached out her hand to him.
"T..Thank you."
She pulled him off the ground with surprising strength,
And looked at him.
"Excuse me, But you are a human aren't you? I've really always wanted to meet one." :-D
"Yes."
"I just knew it.
My name is Zenosis, What's your name?"
"Bain"
"Well Bain I'm afraid your horse ran off."
"Oh damn....Forgive my language"
"Oh it's alright, Where are you going?"
"My village and home. At least forty miles from here."
"Well then hop on. I'll take you there."
She patted her horse back
N..No..I mean I couldn't."
Some of his old fears came back.
"Nonsense, I don't mind, I don't have a saddle I'm afraid but I'll go slow enough so it won't be uncomfortable for you.
Just hold onto my waist."
"Well..."
She patted her back again
"It's a long walk, and I've always wanted to see the human world."
"Have you?"
She nods,
"Yes...I...I've just been kind of nervous to I guess."
"I understand that feeling."
He gets onto her back with her help and they head on.
