Description Since I've noticed there are many people willing to discover more about HDRI photography, I've tried to do my part in sharing my (limited) knowledge on this matter.

Comments, suggestions/corrections and contributions to this guide will be much more than welcome! I hope I'm doing something useful!

the tutorial is great, and i may sound stupid asking this, but how do i save the image and have it look exactly like it does in photmatix?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ZephonSoul In reply to xxpunkettexx [2007-05-17 10:43:33 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I'm not understanding well what you're meaning!
After tonemapping an HDR with Photomatix, you just have to file -> save it. A small note: I suggest you to keep the 16-bit image after tonemapping (the option is in the tonemapping window) and save the image as a TIFF. This way you'll lose less color information. Please tell me if there are more problems or if I got the question wrong!

Very good Guide, will be waiting for a proper equipment upgrade before I can get the results I really want. Only a quarter there.

I dont know if anyone else mentioned it so far. But Dont forget the RAW option for those who have a DSLR that is capable of it.
Well done!

Hi Alessandro!!

Thanks a lot for this tutorial i found it very simple to understand. But i have a rookie question here lol, ....do you know which is the hdr filter or whatever for the paint shop pro? Because i use that program and i have no idea which one i should use.

If you mean if is there a plugin or tool to do HDR merging/tone mapping for PSP, then the answer is (unfortunately) no. However, you don't need to do the work strictly on an editor! As I've said, there are plenty HDR processor tools that work stand-alone, so you just have to get one, let it do the HDR, and then edit the image in your favourite editor.
Don't worry about asking Cecilia, curiosity is human!

Try Photomatix Basic. You can download it from here [link]

Ehehe, you're doing good my friend! Actually mastering the post-processing with PS is probably one of the hardest tasks! And you must consider that photos made through HDRI processes always need to be further edited with PS to achieve desired results!
