Description This image is part of my "artivism" project of artworks made with plastic (mostly) waste I collect on the shores of Lake Leman, Switzerland. I aim to explore the relationship between waste and nature as well as to bring awareness on waste in nature and consumption issues. I find most of the plastic on the shores of a nature reserve (Les Grangettes) protected under the RAMSAR Convention as an area of international and national importance for migratory and water birds. Every year we unfortunately have to clean the reserve from tons of waste coming from Lake Leman or the river Rhone, before the birds start to nest and before the migratory birds start over their long journey.

Thank You! I felt pain in my back as soon we went out of the house, so that we had to buy special medicinal gel on the train station in that city, cause it was not going away after trying to reset by back in the train...
But in about 15 to half an hour after applying this gel the pain was gone and we went to the beach, I even score the 20 min. of swimming! Even if it was forbidden and the was quite cold, people and me too were first were walking in the jackets for the little rain, and than I put the bikini on, hehe - I couldn't let go this opportunity, cause have no idea if and when I could be at the sea side...

After that I had booked appointment by neurolog that I was waiting month already for, and I did ct scann - the mri scann does too much noise so I refused cause I can't put even the headphone on my ears - it gives too much pressure on the skull.
But the scann didn't show anything because it is just milimiters of the differences between parts of the skull, so I still don't have a proove for my condition.
Two day after I banged my head by accident on the wall and had 3 days lot of pain in the skull and neck, until I moved some way my head and it got better, luckily cause my fysiotherapist went just on the vacations so no help there for my spine and my craniotherapist had problem with his fone and no place anyway for many days...
The day I was going to heare the result of ct scann I cut deep in my finger and it still is very painfull and nome even, next day I had finally appointment by cranio and it helps nice for scull, but on the way back I stucked my other indication finger in the bike and now I have plasters on both hands, hehe... so... yeah and no I had rough time but I get better every day.
Thank You for asking and sorry for such long answer.

And how are You?

In Britain, this could be a greenfinch! It's a fun picture

This reminds me of a series of sculptures on display at the National Zoo in Washington DC. Very large animals entirely made out of pieces just like these.

i imagine an eerie silent world...without birds...

this one is really charming, and the green looks kinda optimstic (on the 1st look).

how long did it take you to find the fitting (color/shape) pieces to put this together?

having aready said that it looks really charming ...it is also disturbing on a 2nd look... it is all plastic & waste... paradox...

train of thought just derrailed a bit... have to think about a small dialogue in the movie bladerunner "is it artificial?....of course it is...very expensive..." (deckard/rachel/talking about an genetically re-created owl)...

Hey, missed this sheepy comment!

You should definitely read "Silent Spring" written by Rachel Carson...

I indeed try to create colourful and optimistic composition and sculpture with the plastic waste I collect. In my opinion it's a better way to raise awareness and make people think about these issues!

This one honestly did not take me much time, about half an hour I would say. I knew I wanted to create something green and started to put pieces together, and at some point created the eyes and I knew it was going to be a bird!

About bladeruunner, I don't really get the link between artificial and expensive? Well of course to "create" a genetically modified owl must be much more expensive than just enjoy a natural real owl in the wilderness...

oh, interesting...will hunt down that book
(i think coupland wrote something about bees disappearing... but that is mostly a novel, not a documentary, but somewhat grounded in the recent decline of the bee population...but since i love coupland...i had to mention him here)

i think it is a smart way to create awareness, and creating something colorful and optimistic (at 1st sight) is indeed a good carrier for your message!

thanks for the insight into your creative process, i had to smile as you said "at some point i created the eyes i and i knew it was going to be a bird!" very nice!

well the bladerunner association i had... it is a dystopian society portraited in that movie, nature is more or less ruined... and genetically re-engineerd birds like owls are like super expensive toys, status symbols for the super rich - since there are no real birds left) besides it is a great movie!
