Description Sleep is not with me,
On this warm summer night.
However, something else is,
And his evil takes flight.

I call him the Raven,
For he flies through my dreams.
Leaving evil in his wake,
With the cries and the screams.

He calls to me, torments me,
And when I lay to bed,
I feel his blackness,
Creep into my head.

His ink-colored feathers,
and the gleam in his eye,
Awaken his minions,
With a rallying cry.

His minions are evil,
Though only nightmares,
They poke and they prod,
Despite all my prayers.

This forsaken place,
Is his lair, his domain.
My mind is his kingdom.
As I slip away from sane.

In this wretched lair,
in this state of mind,
God is non-existant,
And angels are blind.

I am in chains,
Useless and bound,
In the cell of my mind,
And in my own cries, drowned.

So night after night,
I lay awake, and on alert,
For the one I call The Raven.
Lurking in the dirt.

For once, sleep finds me,
There is a moment of peace,
That I sleep for every night.
For I love that release.

After that moment,
Triumphant he comes,
The Raven reeks havoc,
As my soul succumbs.

So keep your eyes open,
And of your sleep, make the most,
For the Raven is watching,
And his evil is the ghost.

Oh dear...I wish I knew how to help you...How...does he get you? Is there something that keeps happening or has something happened in your life? Maybe that's why the Raven is targeting you. Either way, I'd be happy to help you achieve sweet dreams again.

Nice writing, but I hope you'll be alright. Nightmares are not cool at all, especially when they seem all too real. When I have them I try to forcefully wake myself up, sometimes it works, usually I'll just fall back asleep into the same nightmare.... which means you need to roll over and change your sleeping position

Heh, thanks. Yeah, they've just been freaking me out, so I wrote about them. But I've done that before too. Like realized it was a bad dream and ten woke myself up. But for these, I dont have that luxury.

I'm sorry to hear that. It should pass though, hopefully. It can't last forever.

Well, I've had strange and often times very disturbing nightmares for most of my life. But just recently they've seemed to be getting worse. But, its just, theres this man "thing" that always seems to be in every one of them. And he's like half-raven, and half-man, i dont know, if its just some freaky creature I imagined up, but he's in almost all of them. Actually I drew a picture of him, in my gallery, the one caled Raven. Thats what he looks like. Well, his face at least. But, yes, hopefully they will at least decrease in severity, and maybe in time they will stop. But that hope is very unlikely. I've seen shrinks about the nightmares, but nothing really seems to help. They almost went away fro a while, but they're back.

well that's very unfortunate, but don't forget that the more something is on your mind, the more likely you are to dream about it. I know it's probably hard but try to forget this Raven character. Before you go to sleep read a book or watch a movie or TV or something, get your mind off it.

Thank you. It took about an hour with me on the computer and a rhyming dictionary in my hand.
