I'll be honest. I had this twirling in my brain for a while before I finally got the motivation to do it. When *jameson9101322 did a Zelda meme with Quill in it, I got the final push. I figured, hey why not? He's my favorite fandom character (EVER) and I haven't drawn him for...what, over a year perhaps? So yes. Quill the Rito postman from the Wind Waker. He used to be the character that was my gallery's theme for a while, and I mean that in the regard that I used to draw him practically every day at one point.Now, onto the facts about the image itself: I wanted to do a picture of what a Rito might feel upon seeing the fate of the Zoras. If Quill was transported back to the days of Ocarina of Time, walked down the main pathway, tripped, and fell onto the ice and saw a Zora trapped within it, he'd be darn shocked I think! To realize that his ancestors were taken out in such a manner...interesting to think about.
Now, one last thing: I know the Zora's hands don't look like they're pressed against the ice. I originally was going to have them be so, but it's actually more interesting if you think the hands are going to be pushing against the ice, but they never made it that far. Although the Zora is moreso the Twilight Princess style...ah well. That's it. Enjoy!

Not That This Artwork Isn's Incredible Why Does Everybody Think That The Zora Turned Into The Rito And Not The Map Making Fish People I mean Couldn't Medli's Ancestor have Got the harp by finding it I mean they are on the Island where the Zora's Domain used to Be It makes more sense than Fish turning into birds.

Because the Wind Waker strongly implies that Fado and Laruto were ancestors of the current races of the Great Sea. Even though it may not make sense to a lot of people, the Zelda universe decided this.

This is really great. Seriously, amazing. I have ideas similar to this in my mind but I cannot execute them at this stage in my learning process for drawing. But you really did a great job. Keep it up!

Are you sure it was the Zora? I had the impression that they were the descendants of the Geruda, who took to flying from their big canyon.

Medli spoke with the Zora ancestor who had died in the Wind Waker, yes? And Makar met with Fado, seeing as the Kokiri turned into Koroks at some point.
Therefore, it is logical that the Zora became Rito.

And strange that we do not hear of them in the Wind Waker, hm?
Seriously, it takes a bigger leap to me to go from chickens that only have a humanoid head to people in physique with a few bird features. What with the extinction of the Zoras in Wind Waker as well, it would make sense.
Not to mention that that Race in TP lives in the Sky, not on a mountain or anything similar, which would have tied them more to the Rito. Therefore, it could be assumed that in the Wind Waker, maybe that race is still around, up in the sky somewhere.

From my knowledge there is only some hints nothing proves it (including Laruto LTTP has all the sage descendants as Hylian women and Koroks are the true form of the Kokiri.)

The Ritos = bird people.
The Zoras = fish people.
Zoras came before Ritos. Ritos came from Zoras. Zoras were frozen in Ocarina of Time and in Twilight Princess.

It certainly adds to the shock of finding out what their ancestors looked like. I don't think they know. It doesn't make a lot of sense that a water-dependent race would evolve into birds because of an influx of water.
