Description

(DOOM VS Destiny)

Super soldier saviors of humanity who went on massive crusades against non-human threats to humanity (Demons and the Fallen / Vex respectively). Both are feared by their enemies to the point of respect in some cases. They are never shown removing their helmets, and as such, their true faces go mostly unknown by the player. Both are incredibly powerful, even among other characters in their respective worlds (The Slayer is the Slayer, and Saint-14 is stated to be “the greatest Titan who ever lived”). Among their arsenal is a shotgun, which is iconic to their series (The Super Shotgun and Perfect Paradox respectively). Both are known for their incredible willpower and tenacity, being able to face down armies for centuries at a time without giving up or growing tired. Due to the influence of an outside entity (Samur Maykr and the Traveler), both have been granted supernatural abilities to use against the enemies of humanity and are incredibly long-lived as a result. Also, both are known by names beginning with “The S…” to their enemies (The Slayer and The Saint respectively). Both also have a soft spot for small animals (The Slayer's pet rabbit, Saint being fond of pigeons).

They also contrast in a handful of ways. While the Slayer is feared even by mankind (despite never bringing harm to them) and is somewhat of an infamous legend, Saint-14 is a beloved hero whose story is told throughout the Last City. Additionally, unlike the Slayer, Saint-14 was able to make peace with his primary enemies, the Fallen, even stepping in to protect the House of Light during the Vex invasion of the Last City. The Slayer is connected to religiously evil imagery (Hell, Demons, etc.) while Saint-14 is connected to religiously good imagery (Saints, Light, etc.). While the Slayer takes on a modern militaristic appearance, Saint-14 is modeled after a Greco-Roman soldier, an ancient militaristic appearance.
