Radiation empowered monsters formally a meek "normal" being mutated by nuclear bombs as commentary on war era events (The Hiroshima Bombing and Nuclear Arms Race) in representation of the fear and anger towards an inevitable war those at the time where afraid to confront with Godzilla representing Japan and Hulk America.

Both would wonder the earth fighting off fellow monsters and borderline gods usually as a hero but also through a sense of survival and sometimes just enjoying it.

Both are classified as so destructive and uncontrollable cities, countries and the planet itself becomes unliveable through encouraged rampages or involuntarily spreading diseases.

While using said radiation as a part of their arsenal through self-destruction, absorption, beams of condensed nuclear energy "Hulk has gamma laser vision now" regeneration, and multiple world-shattering forms extolling their built up energy such as Burning, Green-Scar, Heaven Spiral, World-Breaker, HellBats, Devil, and Titan.

Both can absorb natural, manmade and magical radiation to improve healing and power

While seen as monsters retain a sense of tactical intelligence and morality

Later in their career would spawn franchise clones created in their name and image such as Space-Godzilla, She-Hulk, Abomination, A-Bomb, their own sons Skarr and Jr, and two created by the military to combat them Kiryu and Red-Hulk.

Throughout their run as characters would introduce other essential characters to their franchise such as Ghidorah, Wolverine, Rodan, The One-Below All, Zone-Fighter, and The Avengers as a whole.

Oh yeah this one's fun: after dying for the umpteenth time would go to hell reliving their entire history as a character meeting old foes and absorbing its power gaining an enhanced healing factor where if they die will resurrect and heal from whatever killed them or wander its etherial landscape and return a mound of riving flesh.... Through SATAN MAGIC!
