In terms of Ascension, Midas is new to his role. He was only Ascended five years ago, and went missing four months before now when he went toward Farlin so that he could meet with his "kindred spirit", Raphael the Mighty. Nobody had seen him since then, and some talks were being done to decide if he should be declared dead.

Midas took after his peers in Chitan, doing whatever was necessary to accomplish what they felt was needed. Controlling criminals and invaders had to be dealt with in absolutes, so Midas is no stranger to killing and this Darkrai in the Ailes Canyon definitely acts like he isn't either - even though he is also acting like he wants to welcome everybody from Duoneuma into his Nightmare Circus, like he wants to have someone to talk to. If this character really is Midas, then his powerful control over Nightmares is easy to explain, though that must mean the Pokémon calling himself Raphael is an imposter.

After his capture in Ailes Canyon, Midas is prone to being frustrated with anyone who would interact with him. That being said, he does understand why there's so little trust for him or his master Raphael; the fighting he caused in Ailes Canyon was by no means a great way to make a first impression.

However, he is at an impasse. He wants to defend his master and set Raphael free, but at the same time he's seen an opportunity to make friends with other Pokémon and even feels some connection after seeing into the dreams and thoughts of so many of them. Even though he's hard to approach, he isn't in a situation where he wants to make others stay away from him and will try to socialize, even if he's not particularly good at it.

How he talks:
"This place is born from your mind and my heart and body. It's the embodiment of nightmares and dreams made manifest. I know it's got a fair share of strange and even creepy sights, but... I hope you like it here."

"I'm not looking for a fight. But I will NOT let you interfere with my Master."

"Rest, now. Trust me, you're in the company of the most noble Pokémon in the world. He will take good care of you."

"Do you think nightmares are such a bad thing? Tell me... what growth is there to have in life without facing your fears? Dreams bring out thoughts and feelings that can't be reached when you're awake. They make us consider paths we wouldn't have given a second thought otherwise. I believe that my ability is no curse; it's a gift that encourages all of us to strive for something more than what we are now."
