If the original Olympic was still alive and well today and could talk, I'm sure she would be marveled over the design of her descendant.

Very interesting that you have her bulbous bow showing a bit over the waterline too.

thanks! it's a shame she's gone, and i'm glad that i'v done her some justice. i'm pretty careful about my designs, i want them to be comparable to their predecessors. C:

Beautiful work girl! Holy cow, that is a beautiful remake of the Olympic! The size of the deck is mindblowing, and all the little details...Magnificent. You truly have a gift with drawing ships! Are you going to design ships as your career?

OOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Simply fantastic, excellent work you've done here my friend. Reborn at last; and as before, the eldest of the Olympia-Class Ocean Liners for New White Star Cruises. Thankyou so much for this, I love these old liners and the stories behind them. And I seriously think you could get a job designing them for real. You should really try submitting these too Carnival, or Carribean. (not that either are worthy of these ships, but they are the leading names in ocean travel today.)

Hey I wanted to tell you, did you know that the Stockholm (the very ship that collided with the Andrea Doria) has been redesigned from the original hull up? Its now called the Athens. (presumably shes under ownership of a greek cruise line) she looks gorgeous, I thought that might interest you.

i'm glad you like it! thanks for the kind words, it made my day. you really think i should try submitting my stuff to them? that could be a possibility over Christmas break. i definitely want to work for a cruise line one day, preferably Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, or Cunard. oh my gosh, really? i'll have to look up the Athens right away, thanks for the insight!

I'm just speechless!
So damn well done!
Such an eye for line and shape and form and composition!
You're way better than I am.........I could just scream.
Yep! The women of my dreams...... And I'm way too old!
You are a rarity!
In case you haven't noticed.........I'm jealous as hell.

wow, thanks! this design was great practice for working on my lines and shading, the ghosted Olympic didn't come out so great though. oh well, everything else came out okay. ha ha, i'm told i'm like a 30 year old stuck in a 19 year olds body. that's not too bad that, being different is awesome!

glenninacrypt In reply to ZeroGal5 [2010-11-30 06:28:19 +0000 UTC]

hahaha, well, I'm the same age as Mel Gibson and Bill Gates stuck in
a body kinda like the late John Candy's....
Wish I was 19 years old....I use to be.

ha ha, John Candy was funny, you sure do have a sense of humor like him! hey, you're still 19 at heart, that's all that matters.

Well, there you go! As the late Fernando Lamas use to say:
"It's more important to LOOK good than FEEL good"...."And by the way",
"Yooou loook maaarvelous"! He used to say that on all the talk shows...
But there's just "so much" one can do when one is old........like me!

ZeroGal5 In reply to glenninacrypt [2010-12-01 16:59:01 +0000 UTC]

oh my gosh, i have to find one of those talk shows! hey, you can do anything! my mom's in her 40's and she came trumping with me through sacred Mayan caves in Belize, rode horses through Guatemalan mountains, and all kinds of crazy stuff. if you can think it, you can do it!!!!

glenninacrypt In reply to ZeroGal5 [2010-12-01 22:44:12 +0000 UTC]

With limitations......I'm not 40 any more....oh yes, those were the days!
"If I can think it"......I'll think about it tomorrow and go take a nap now...

Fernando Lamas did all the talk shows in the 70's...Johnny Carson, Mike Douglas,
Dina Shore, mostly Merv Griffin, and Phil Donahue, who's still alive but all
the rest are dead, including Mr. Lamas. I'll bet you haven't heard of a single
one of these people....It kinda gives my age away.

hahahaha, Well, that's the ONLY, and I mean ONLY advantage of being old!
"The hopes and dreams of youth become the regrets of maturity"...
I was "Television Generation", I learned about life by watching
"Bugs Bunny"! Yes, I was hooked on TV and watched way too much....not a good thing!
By-the-way, Dina Shore was the "Queen of Daytime TV" and was
the "Opra" of her day! In her youth, she was a "girl singer" for
one of the bands, during the "Big Band" era...(1940's)
Johnny Carson was "King of late night TV" and was host of the
"Tonight Show" for 30 years! 1963-to-1993. Longest in history!
Merv Griffin was not only a popular TV talk-show host, He also invented
the contemporary "Game Show" format! He invented some famous TV Game Shows
like "Wheel Of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" and wrote that famous theme song!
In his youth, he was a "boy singer" during the "Big Band" era, for the
Glenn Miller Band....I think it was. A big TV executive, when Network TV was "IT".
He also "did" allot of Radio, when Radio was the only thing around....

wow, i HAVE GOT to look up all of this stuff! there used to be a radio station that still did the 'old time' radio stories. we'd huddle around and listen to the Lone Ranger (best. thing. EVER!).

ALRIGHT, That activity was from my "Parental-Units" era!
I like that! As a kid, my little Mom and her sister
huddled around the the old "RCA" to listen to "The Shadow",
(live), "Only the Shadow knows for sure"! Yup!
For me, it was: "Captain Kangaroo", Sheriff John, The Addams Family, The Munster's, The Avengers,
Star Trek, Lost In Space, The Brady Bunch, Hawaii Five-O, Gilligan's Island, Bonanza, The Wild Wild West,
Batman (orig. series), Green Acres, The Monkeys, Mannix, The Partridge Family, It Takes A Thief,
Love American-Style, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Dragnet, The twilight Zone, Parry Mason, Andy Griffith Show,
The Walton's, Little House On The Prairie, Streets Of San Fransisco, Policewomen, Run for your Life!,
The Rockford Files, Magnum P.I., Cannon, Mission Impossible, Columbo, McMillan and wife, The Mod Squad,
McCloud, The Sunday Night Mystery Movie, The Six Million Dollar Man, S.W.A.T., The Name Of The Game,
All In The Family, Maude, The Jefferson's, Disney's Wonderful World Of Color, Kojak, Night Gallery,
any "National Graphic" special that came along, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The...............
"OOPS"! Sorry, I got carried away with those old TV shows from my era!.
