Nice work. One idea you could shoot for is maybe a Gum Gum Balloon Nami? The idea would be only her body inflates while her head and limbs stay the same. I mean, it'd be a more simplistic shape than others and something you could work towards. I think you can even find sprites of Luffy doing said technique if you need a basis or something. Just something I wanted to say if you were interested.

Yeah, I did look into all that, but I wasn't quite sure how I'd edit things around, like how her head, arms and even breasts would be positioned. And I checked the Luffy sprites from the same game as these Nami ones are from, so any edits I'd do would still be in the same art style, but he's only really doing Balloon at a weird angle, as it's more of a preparation for another attack. Not to mention I'll want to try this with Robin as well, and her jacket would be trickier to work with, though maybe once I experiment with Nami some more, I can figure something out.
Ah well, I can look into it again later in case I missed something.

Ah, I see. Well, if you're looking for other source material for sprites, there are plenty of gba-era games of various anime.
For example, I could see something like a Naruto kunoichi (Sakura, Ino, Hinata, for example) doing an inflation by doing the human boulder technique (Choji's signiture technique). I think I once saw someone do one of Naruto himself doing it, but I don't remember.
Heck, if you're really daring, you could even look into the Bobobo games. With that series, you wouldn't need a reason to explain the inflations!Β

Well, for now I'll probably want to focus on just Nami and Robin before I venture out to other things. And I probably wouldn't want to use different style sprites as reference, it might make the style clash. Like say, if I used Jump Ultimate Stars Luffy as reference to edit the Gigant Battle 2 Nami and Robin sprites. The styles clash since Luffy's sprites are smaller. I'll figure it out eventually, though.
That is a good idea having various Naruto girls using Choji's jutsu, though.
And expansion did happen in Bo-bobo anyway. Like when Suzu ate too much, or the effects of that... giant toilet... I think it was that... (Man, Bo-bobo was weird, huh. I liked it, though.)
Haha, another idea would be maybe having Dragon Ball girls eat a ton of senzu beans and bloating up, like what happened with Yajirobe. I've had that idea swimming in my head for a while now.

Huh, good point, I could use regular sprites for characters like Nami to be in non-inflation roles, inflating someone else who has the right sprites. (Of course I'll want to give them inflation sprites eventually anyway.)
Yeah, I could try that at some point.

Now I would suggest asking him before you do that if you're going to project something very similar; obviously not if your's is going to be a fairly different scene.

Well yeah, it's not gonna be exactly the same, don't worry about that.

I suppose what I do have here is fine. Just that the real problem is doing the rest that I would've liked to have done, which would've been making the sequence go into full body inflation, which is rather difficult. I'm trying to figure that stuff out, though.

I was Trying to Find a Tutorial That do a Few Time Ago Explaining How to do Inflation Sprites But Oh Well, i've Already do a Fat Nami Referencing Luffy's WG in Whiskey Peak Arc But Also Including a Roly Body for your Future Sprites as a Gift if you Want to Call it
Here is:Β sta.sh/011gjjqfi5j3

Thanks but I do still wanna try doing more anyway.
As for finding that tutorial, I'll go and ask him directly.

That's not bad for an early sprite edit (it's certainly isn't worse than the stuff I started out making...) I'm sure you'll get a lot better over time, and I'd be happy to help you improve.

Heheh thanks, it means a lot coming from you. And I'd be glad to learn. I do wonder how you manage to do it. Is it a specific technique or is it just simply practice?

I guess there are a few techniques I use, but it's mostly just practice. Over time I picked up on ways to improve and experimented with other ways to edit sprites, but I started out just making low quality edits to other people's sprites.

What programs do you use? I just use Photoshop whenever I have to make new expressions and the like. I recall you mentioned GIMP at one point. I could try looking into that as well.

I use Gimp for everything, but from what I've heard, Gimp is basiclly Photoshop but free and less user friendly.

Okay, so Photoshop is really my best option then. I suppose I'll stick with that.

Yeah, that's probably best. So, is there anything specific that you'd like advice on making?
π: 0 β©: 1
ZeroGhostRei In reply to Max-Digital [2016-08-01 06:47:29 +0000 UTC]
Mostly full body inflation. Since nearly the whole sprite is changed, and it isn't just something like overlaying a belly sprite over the original sprite.
I could probably make the "last" fully inflated sprite (assuming it's indeed the last one of a sequence) just by itself. I think the main problem is "connecting" all the sprites together in a sequence where it'd look good.
I suppose I could attempt making the last sprite of a sequence, and maybe other major parts as well if I can. After that, if you'd like, make the rest, and even fix up parts that seem off? Of course only if you're interested, do whatever you like.
Otherwise, it'd probably be best to teach me and give me advice anyway, that way we can get more sprites done in double the effort! And I can finally work with more characters as well. Can't just use the Mario girls forever, y'know!

Hmm... Usually with full body inflation, I start with a circle as a base, add the head, and then fill in all the details. I'm a bit less experienced with transition sprites though... So far I've only ever done them for the mario girls, and never with larger and mor detailed sprites like this. I guess I could try and help out though, maybe give you something to work off of.

I did want to make this full body inflation, but I have no idea how I'd even begin to do that. Instead, I guess I could just make the belly bigger.
