I haven't drawn much fanart for a while, and it's not like I haven't noticed, I just haven't wanted to do that much detail. Plus I've been really busy and haven't had time for it. But since I got a request recently, I figured I should try and do some fanart like this to see if I still can.
I've never drawn Aidou before either, so please forgive me if it's not that good. And my scanner isn't big enough for my ginormous sketchbook so I had to cut some of the top and bottom and sides off, but I think it still looks okay. Well, I can't draw at all. If I could draw that, I would die of excessive happiness. I'm trying, though, maybe I'll draw something halfway decent and eventually upload it. My friend (who is an amazing artist), tells me I have potential, which is good

Well, I'm sure that if you're friend says you have potential and you want to draw, then you can. That's how I see it, because no one starts out amazing. Even if it's just when they're young that they suck, they start somewhere and get better. I'd like to see your art though, if you do decide to draw and upload some.

Yeah, chibis are a good place to start. Plus they're cute and you can't really mess them up too bad.

Awesome!! I do better at fanart when I have a reference, that's when it comes out really good, but if I don't then forget it. XD I'm getting a little better at drawing from my mind though.

That's good. I'm the opposite, though. I think that with some things, I do better without a reference. If I have a reference, I try too hard to make it perfect.

That's what I like about references though, is that I have to strive to be as good as I can, as close to the reference as I can be and then gain some drawing skill from that, perfecting my own work a little more.

Yeah. They are really good when you're trying to teach yourself. I learn more just by looking at them, though.

Yeah, exactly, it helps you have more of a clear idea how to draw it yourself, like drawing a certain body figure or something can help you learn to draw body figure in general.

Yeah. I found that if I actually think about it, breaking people/figures down into simple shapes really helps.

I tried doing that and it doesn't really do much for me, it makes my people look...too simply shaped. XD

Yeah, I do too, but not enough so you can't see what they shapes originally were, so I tend to just draw.

The last chibi I drew was a complete fail. And then, for some reason, I started drawing something NOT chibi, so maybe I'll upload that...if I can take a good picture of it with my camera. My scanner's too old to connect to my laptop.
