Description
I wanted to do an illustration based on both the film and the books versions of 'Howl's Moving Castle', so I did. (Scene is from the film, visuals are inspired by the book)I also wanted to really focus on the lighting and background of the illustration. I think I did okay?
Also, Calcifer is derp. He was hard to draw in an original way.

Oooh i love this! I'm a fan of the movie, I've always wanted to read the book though it's hard to find copy here. Is he a red-head in the book?

I have trying . . . and TRYING . . . AND TRYING to crack eggs like howl, but I always end up squeezing too hard and the egg fractures and all the liquid runs down my hand and then I become sad

Yea, he is my favorite anime next to princess mononoke. And I can see how the egg was hard to draw. I would never be able to do that! Well, I love making cupcakes, so every time I had the egg/s I try to crack them like that. . . . I've probably only done it correctly once

The lighting is QUITE nice and what drew me to the pic! I think the table is lacking castshadow from the lady, but that's just being nit-picky since you seemed to want positive critique. Keep up the good work!

Me neither lol. I think that's where I lack dynamicism (that a word?) at times.
I may not be the greatest artist in the world, but I'm always improving and usually have a good eye for positive feedback!
If you're like me, you've already spent hours on the pic and don't want to look at it anymore to fix lol, so, just something to start keeping into consideration!

You're feedback is invaluable, its good to get an outsiders view on things to get a fresh idea on lighting and such! I spend so much time on something, that I begin to like to no matter what and wont pick fault, but someone else's view is always more objective (or subjective? I cant remember the different between them, hehe) and therefore helpful!
Keep up the feedback for as long as you want to please! Its really helpful!

Personal experience, my stuff would look 10 times better if I didn't procrastinate and gave myself a day to have the artwork sit alone that I can come back and look at it freshly.

Most of the work i put on devART isnt done for university, I think I have about 5 deviations on here actually for work!
We mostly use facebook for feedback with classmates and things (we have a fb group for our class) but sometimes we talk about things on here. I seek to much critique from people becuase I always feel as if im just showing my stuff off, and most of the time all I get is- 'Great!' which is lovely.. but not always helpful!
I get that alot from my teachers aswell.. which gives me nothing to work on.
You're kinda feedback and help always gives me something to think about for my next arting adventure!

lol yaaaa, I say a "Good critique" generally deserves at least 5 "great" critiques lol.
I know my type of critiques can bog a person down, soooo hearing that your stuff is the bomb is just as valuable in the longrun! Otherwise you start getting depressed about your stuff (like what was happening to me >.>)
