Description A blueprint of UNIT-201, my mecha Original Character.

This guy will be my avatar online from now on, like a net navigator from Megaman Battle Network. (Rockman Exe) He'll represent me in my artwork if there is a need for it, but he is not me. He is going to stay in SD/Chibi form until I can learn to draw metal plating that doesn't look like cardboard.

UNIT-201 is designed for melee combat. His fighting style is highly akin to that of Alteisen's, utilizing a powerful Arkanto claw fist weapon and thrusters to enhance his punches. He can release all his heavy plating and assume a more agile form when the armor has been damaged to the point where it becomes a liability.

A lot of his designs take reference to series I really like. His artstyle is based on the Robopon Manga. Some of his parts are from very old first attempts at mecha. [link] [link]

I must say ZZ that right there is truly a serious looking mech designed in such a way as a perfect blend of alien and futuristic designs that have been made into something that looks quite well refined with sheer tenacity and such finely detailed colors that bring this creation to life in a great way

Believe it or not, some of the designs were inspired by an old GBA game series called Robopon , which is the less popular franchise rival of Medabots.

I can kinda of see that now that you mention it, sadly noble artist I knew Medabots both back then and now, by any chance have you heard of Robo Arena, with the little action figure fighting robots?

I have, but I never played it because I don't have a DS.

O_O Wow, but then again it is a person's choice if they wanna buy a DS or 3DS and any other such circumstances.

Cool!

I can't draw mecha to save my life. I shall continue torturing Teru with my horrendous renditions XD

I keep seeing you torture her but I've never really found out where she is from. Is she one of your characters?

I can't draw mecha too, which is really ironic because of how much I love them. I somehow always end up making them really dull and cardboardish(?) like [link] . My art style even suits mechas due to its jagged/spiky nature. My friend bought me a book for my birthday to help me, it's a pretty good at explaining how stuff is styled by a Taiwanese artist.

Miyanaga Teru is from the anime/manga "Saki" by Kobayashi Ritz

I guess the cardboardish is just due to the colouring. It's hard to make mecha lineart look like cardboard since it is really jagged. I think your style suits mechas as well.

Yeah, it's been 8 years since I tried drawing mecha again since when I was a kid I never manage to get it to look good so I got this art-trauma LOL. I'll get over it eventually.
