You see, what Zero does won't always make sense. In his case, he uses Goblin as an aide of sorts and doesn't really control him so having the sableye battle for him doesn't come naturally to them. Instead, after Edna got the request from Nicole, they just went with him. Zero would have used a rock to knock out the nidoran but that would hurt his feet so Gob got him Augustus the paras. Edna didn't expect his dear partner to be used to fight this way...
