Thanks! I know he's got angst, his backstory is one of the most tormenting I've read especially the whole getting cancer thing, I meant that he's not as outwardly brooding about it, like, say Batman or Wolverine.  Despite his shield of humor I think he's horribly depressed, and you can tell in some of his dialogue there's more to him than wise-cracks.  You're right, his life sucks, but he makes the best of it.  His morbid optimism is what I like, that's all.

Yeah, it's great that he's able to push through it like that, but sometimes it feels like they forget about it. Looks like they're starting to work it in to the new series though.

I've gone back to read his first monthly series from the late 90s, back when he was a fear-striking coldblood, even to the folks at the hellhouse and his pent-up anger about his issues was woven in to the story, giving him the image of a psychopath. There were those who treated him like a joke back then, but it seems that there are even more now.
