This rant, I will say now, is focused on people who use religion for the base of their hate and is mostly on things I've seen around DA. This is in no way targeting any individual NOR is it saying religion is a bad thing. (rubs head) I've wanted to get this off my mind for a while, cause it just gets so tiring to see everywhere I go, so I hope I relay the message well:It seems everywhere I go I see someone throwing out a verse from the bible in an argument to try and '
rove their point'. I see people who say "Well since the bible said this then it must be wrong, so I'm supposed to hate it!" or "You're [this or that]/believe [this or that] so you're going to hell! I know because the bible says-" and so on. Religion has never, EVER been there for you to use as the staple of your hatred; for you to twist and rip apart and distort so that you can use it to validate why you hate a group, a gender, a lifestyle etc. The bible is NOT there for you to take random, vague, easily interpreted as otherwise, verses out of to slap in people's faces.People have started to use religion just to make their intolerance somehow acceptable; that I think is very wrong. Religion has always taught us to love one another and has never- from what I know- preached hate, it's never told you directly that something is acceptable to hate. Everything you take and absorb is what you interpret it to be saying. It's you. It's not the book or the God telling you its wrong, just yourself.
Religion has never been there just so you can hurt other people in what they do or believe and nor will it ever be. Stop using it to justify your hatred and for once own up to your own intolerance of something. Quit hiding behind God, it's not what he's there for.
There, hate on me all you want for that. I don't care, what's done is done and it's off my mind now.

I'm not religious and I would say the only thing to follow in the Bible is Genesis 1 and only that.
Most of the rest is based on hate, discrimination and misinterpretation/mistranslation.

This is true. I agree with this. God wants us to love one another and to be at peace with all men. But God also wants us to tell the truth about sin but we shouldn't be mean or hateful about. We are to tell the truth about sin in love.

100% agree I have a friend that doesn't think there is a god but people pound her like a hammer. telling her how she going to die the second death how she will never be saved.

If we're talking about Christianity, in the New Testament (after the rather unforgiving God of the Old Testament) Jesus is given as a benevolent figure that loves anyone and everyone for who they are. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

But you cant really blame the religion you have to blame the idiots,meaning people who use it to justify their own actions,and then you have to blame the people who actually do wrong things who go around thinking they do no wrong
I dont care who belives what or what but there is a right and there is a wrong

I'm Christian, and I adore this stamp! It really makes me mad when "Christian" groups say that "God hates this" and "God hates that". God doesn't hate anything, and Christianity is about love. It gives us a bad name. Very great stamp!

I agree. I've seen so many people hurt because others were using some of things the Bible says. My gay friend, whom I've known since I was in diapers, asked me the other day if I had condemned him to Hell because the Bible says homosexuality is sinful. I almost cried right there thinking that he was worried about that.

This is why I'm not deeply religious, I've seen religion used so many times as a weapon to hurt others that it's just plain ridiculous. Religion is meant to give guidance and hope to people, not to be used to hurt them.

I couldn't agree with you more. People seem to think that if you throw a bible at someone when I an argument that they win or look better, personally I see it as a slap in "Gods" face he wouldn't want to be apart of any sort of fight, let alone choose a side he loves us all equally. That's just my take on it.

It drives me mad when people use and interpretation from the Bible to justify their hate. Same as when Satan is blamed for their misdeeds 'cause they can't take responsibility for their own actions. Love is constantly preached but it seems that misplaced hate is constantly abound. Religion would be better if there would be more people that celebrated love for your fellow man.
