unless its an alien design (this one looks of future human tech) logic and functionality should guide design somewhat. Obviously logical design only applies for human ships because humans are non advanced and cannot break rules of physics (Simple physics such as no sound in space. Light travel and teleportaion passes off as science fiction so its A ok):


1)Capital Star ships should be somewhat long. For docking and launching small fighters. And because when in a firefight with another target you can reduce your profile by approaching from the front or when you want more fire power approach with your side.


2)Capital Star Ships should have long antenna's for deep space communication. I'm sorry HUGE pet peeve of mine for a lowly human Capital ship to not have multiple long distance detection and communication systems. See examples of submarines and battle ships all of them have ginormous radar devices. These devices of course can be retractable for the sake of design. This goes back to physics. If your large star ships don't have large antennas science fiction wont save you and you wont beable to communicate long distances.... i'm sorry.


3)Multiple small thrusters for pivoting and turning. Also a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Designs that allow the ship to maneuver in space properly (see new game star citizen which does this well). Space flight is so much different than jet fighters which has only one Thruster and wings that control direction.


4)A ship of this scale and profile looks to be non transport ship. Therefore needs weapons. Last pet peeve of mine. There are only 4 types of ships a fleet should have. Star Cruiser (Super capital ships). Fighters (comes in all sizes functionality but their purpose is to destroy). Transportation ships which come in all sizes but they are designed to transport. This particular ship looks to be more of a fighter but......i see no weapon designs. Lastly ships for engineer/exploration purposes that have nothing to do with combat and cargo transportation. Maybe the occasional dedicated communication ship who's sole purpose is for the fleet to communicate in deep space


The days of random ship designs is long past imo. Things need to be grounded in reality wherever they can be. Its the military. Meaning every ship has a function. and its shape and features have to be designed around the function rather than looking cool with fins all over the place.

Absolutely amazing work! ^^ I have to ask, are you planning on using this ship for anything in the future? I ask because I've been on the look out for some ship designs that I can use in some of my upcoming stories and pictures. Would you be willing to let me use this ship design if you're not planning on using it for anything?
