Description I've been writing a basic marker colouring tutorial today and I was gonna get it finished before midnight, but then I realised I had to retake all the photos needed and I'd have to do that in better lighting.. so no complete tutorial today.

I finished this one tiny pic tho, so I though I might as well compile a small step-by-step animation of it. Copic and Neopiko Markers.

And I realise once again that my English is horrible .

Cool. Where did you get Neopiko markers from?

Which type of marker would you say was better? Copic or Neopiko?
I'm deciding on which brand to buy as avaliablility here is quite short. If I want Copics, I need to order online and overseas, but I can find decently priced Neopikos at a store nearby.

Great tutorial. It's definitely help once I get some markers. ^-^

Copics are refillable and a bit better quality, in my opinion, but Neopiko are just so much cheaper and they've got some really nice and bright colours that it doesn't really make a difference which ones you use.

So you just use a reagualr Gell pen that you can get anywhere?

I like how you decided to do this. I want to learn to color with markers but I'm afarid I'll mess up.
This is easy to understand and it shows the steps in order, just what I needed

Yes, I do . It's just a regular cheap little thing.

Glad this helps.

Are Neopiko Markers some what good as Copic markers cause I might get some soon and I would like to know how they are like. By the way nice tutorial.

Zhenoa In reply to Nekomikuso [2006-12-16 08:19:01 +0000 UTC]

They're almost the same, though I'd say Copic is a bit better (for instance, you can't refill Neopikos, but Copics you can).

Thank you. I found this earlier today when I put the word, "marker" into the DA search engine- this is such a nice little tutorial~

I'll be adding this to my favourites...

Just some really basic ones, bought from a local bookshop. They look like this .

Wow, this is really useful! I like coloring my pics the traditional way and markers are my favorite media so this will prove quite handy. Though I'm still too poor to get myself markers as good as Copics... But old, common not-so-professional markers work just fine for me. Thanks for the excellent tutorial, Zhenny. ^^

And don't worry, I think your English is just fine.

Wow, that's very handy for those who use comics and it kinda helped me to understand how you guys use them because I'm not very familiar with them *thinks that comics are hard to colour with and expensive too* You can handle them very well, I shall stick to watercolours and crayons <3

Zhenoa In reply to Kei-Li [2006-01-30 17:21:53 +0000 UTC]

I sincerely hope you mean copics .__o? Watercolours own tho, you are right about that (never understood crayons, me).

Kei-Li In reply to Zhenoa [2006-01-30 21:46:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I meant copics but your no baddie with watercolours neather <3 You copic god you~ You should try out those crayons, those are fun to mess with. You can create strong and rough surfaces with that kind of colours, ideal for not so detailed work. But details may come too, if you are patient enough that is ^^

Zhenoa In reply to Kei-Li [2006-01-31 06:21:36 +0000 UTC]

I've used some basic crayons now at school and they're pretty nifty (oo, bright colours! bright-coloured gradients!), but I can't do details ;____;. You must teach meeeeh~!

Kei-Li In reply to Zhenoa [2006-01-31 08:52:47 +0000 UTC]

hehe Well I'm not that good either but when I start drawing with ctrayons, I'm prepared to colour for more than five hours because it's extremely slow~ Yay you gave me an ispiration! I want to draw something very detailed now!!

Bright colours are of spring, bright colours must come soon ;__;

I don't get it why do you give the whole character a base color But I guess it doesn't matter if you work on a small picture. Anygays, the picture looks great and I envy your color eye and how you manage to add so many layers of shading with different colors. *_* Mm, fabulous~
