I see, I see, this thing is uploaded too late for Mermay, but at least I got her introduced, right? By the way looks like she have found something bizarre through her microscope XD

So yeah, this is another bio of one of the mission crew, or should I say, a secret mission crew, in The Space Kids series, and yeah, supposed to be uploaded in May as a Mermay special, we got the only non-human member of the crew, the little mermaid Kai Kealoha, first time kicking in along with Buzz on the second illustration.

For her background.. well, it was a bit hard to figure out, but I think I got it now, Only it will be different than the other bios. Here goes.

According to a folklore told worldwide, it is known that a saltwater Merfolk den was located somewhere deep under the surface of the Pacific ocean, although no attempt on searching of the true location of the den were made. This den resembled a feudal age civilization with the inhabitants residence placed between reefs, as well as it's monarchical structure where the leader of the den resides. These merfolks were known to have a great stamina that they can travel in a much further distance than the average ordinary human thanks to the less mass while swimming underwater, without any means of transportation. This den however, was believed to be extinct after a civil war, causing the civilians to flee somewhere else, with little of them survives. The existence of the den and the Merfolk itself is somehow reached the point when it proven to be exist in reality by one little Merfolk found stranded on the seashore.

The stranded little mermaid claims herself to bear the name Kai Kealoha. She was found stranded and unconscious at the seashore of the edge of Honaunau beach, The Big Island, Hawaii, by a Scientist and Astronomer Lindsey Corse, during her vacation there. Kai's appearance resembled a 12-year-old pre-teenage child with green eyes and Ocean blue hair. When asked by Lindsey how Kai could end up stranded on the land, she couldn't remember anything but sound of the violent riot happened to her homeland. And with care, the astronomer bring Kai to her house to live with her, while making sure that nobody acknowledged Kai's existence, letting her swim around at Lindsey's swimming pool. Her personality, according to Lindsey, is a kind of a brainstormer and loves to fill her thought with a knowledge of something new, very loyal to everyone she looks up to, and is an open girl in the society.

During her new life with the Astronomer, Kai gained a curiosity on Science and astronomy after seeing her adopter doing observations, and ever wondered if she can go beyond the sky to see the stars she always stared all night, much closer. With that reason, Lindsey showed her that there is a possibility for her to go to space sooner, The young-crewed space program Marvin-O. She got really ambitious when she heard that, so that she agreed and sent to the training facility and joined the program. While Lindsey pleaded everybody at NASA to avoid her exposure to medias, which was a bit overwhelming.

With Kai joined the program, she met Geo, who joined the program with his schoolmates, during the training who asked how come she could end up there, just as curious as Kai joining the program. But she had to make sure that Geo won't breach the existence of her being, which he agreed. Training-wise, she was given a special training sequence which was overwhelmed NASA for certain cases, and yet PICO, the company that made the suits for the program, have to develop a specialized p-EMU spacesuit for Kai if she were ever to go for an EVA, that circulates water instead of air for the life support, and a mechanical hand to compensate her webbed hands that could not be fitted with the suit gloves. Despite all that overwhelming specialization, she was able to get through the selection and joins 5 other selected candidates in the program as the Payload Scientist. Only her absence on the media makes her a part of a conspiracy theory..

Huh, that was a long background story XDDDD

Alright, the drawing process. Well, focusing more on the commission submission makes this an overdue pic, but, as of how it goes, it was literally the same as what I did for the previous SK bio pics, in this case, Lisa's pic. It's used as the base for this pic. But unlike the previous ones, this one is done in a quite slower pace, let's say, for about two weeks XDDD.. But yeah, usually I can focus on this overnight and make this done in two or three days, but, man, lately i'm always got sleepy at 10 PM so, yeah, bed first XDDD.. But that makes the advantage on working more for the background, which looks like I've made a better effort on it, added more details to the second panel, mainly for that Specimens storage on the right. Talking about the second pose, I had to place her arms on the layer which I usually use to put objects other than the body parts like call outs etc, along with that microscope and the other thing flying around her that will assure the viewer she's still on the zero gravity.

Well, overall, the piece really came out good in the end
