My reimagining of the Nutcracker from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet, The Nutcracker.

Peter was once a normal personally, a sorcerer apprentice to the wizard Drossel Meyer. Together they chased down and stopped many dangerous supernatural creatures. Their toughest challenge came from the Rat King, a colossal rodent beast made up of many rats with one main one that rules them all, making a chimeric abomination. What Peter and Drossel didn't know was that the Rat King was one the Zodiac Immortals and as such was more powerful than they assumed. Peter was gravely wounded in the fight and the Rat King escaped. To save Peter's life, Drossel had to extract his soul from his body and place it in an object, a nearby nutcracker that had been thrown in the garbage. Peter was saved, but his new life was forever changed, during the day, he'd have to be stuck in the seemingly normal nutcracker and by night he'd finally be able to turn back in a larger more human form.

Things took a turn for the worst when the Rat King emerged later on and had taken a family member of Drossel's, his niece Clara, into a pocket dimension of pure fantasy, where anything was possible. Drossel and Peter went into the dimension, but took way too long to come back. As such, Clara's family called in a team of people who dealt with matters such as these. This team arrived at the house and before going to save their daughter, the team took off their hoods, revealing a wolfman, a fish-lizard, a stitched up pale man, and a seemingly normal girl. The Monstrosities team went into the unknown and found Peter being attacked by rat creatures. After saving him, he revealed the Rat King was even more powerful in this dimension/realm and that Drossel was taken away while Peter was left to only run. Despite his heavy injuries and fading magical body, Peter will save his master and Clara and now he has reinforcements to aid him in his quest.
