Description This is an entry for Luminarium Sketch Wars - [link] - Update - LOL, I won xD Lucky me there were no painting gurus involved in the round xD

This was supposed to be a quick action shot, but I managed to get some details pretty tight, and still preserve the sketchy energetic feeling of the overall piece.

I've been experimenting with several perspectives grids, you can see that the big shipbuilding and the foreground craft have separate perspective planes. This feels very natural to me, because in real world, aicraft fly in different planes unless in a formation. The background racers are in "main" perspective.

I'm a slow painter, because this is still new to me, and I still need to relax and paint more freely. It took me about 3-5 hours. Made in Photoshop CS5 with no reference used. Brushes are generic chalk and similar, nothing ready-made.

Nice movement, love how they seem to "woosh" and have all those mechanical engine sounds which are common in gallactic movies hehee
I really love your angle here, awesome.. I also love the colours, it's pale and off, but it's great for this atmosphere. The automobile closest to the right is awesome Like it just looks sooo good. So do the others, but I think I'm just having a fantasy of driving it??

Currently they have not been fitted with weapons, but I guess if I made a drawing of a racer alone, it could have some kind of light weapons, as you can see they're pretty nimble and small. That's a good thing about concept art it's up to the imagination.
