heavily inspired by the track 'Serenity Painted Death' by Opeth from the album 'Still Life'not that i'm a huge Opeth fan or anything....

Following on from Lament of the Weary [link] a submission which for me marked a change of direction, I wanted to post up some more of my new stuff.
Serentity Painted Death is another one of my rambling sketches which I have made flesh so to speak. I really feel like I'm naked with these releases as they are 100% photoshop and as a result 100% me. No renders, no reference, no photos, no poser, nada, nowt, nothing, just a blank canvas in photoshop, a twisted mind and a heavy cold.
I have another version of this with a raven taking up most of the right hand side in the foreground. I probably spent as much time on that ruddy bird as the rest of the piece, but I got to nearing the end of the piece and thought 'i wonder what it looks like without the raven...' and it looked better (well to me anyway) the white face stands out loads more without him. I might post a link to this version for peoples amusement if anyone's that interested.
oh, the hardes thing on this image was the f**king b*st*rd Bl*dy brickwork. Never done it before and its soooooo time consuming. thats probably why it looks really rough

Gotta love your taste in music man, Opeth is one of the most amazing bands I have ever heard. This painting is to art as Opeth is to music. Awesome work!!!! Love it man.

Three hours... thats speedy for work this good, love the variety of textures you've managed to create with such a limited colour range, plus the potent use of lighting to really adds to the mood and dream like feeling of the piece as well as drawing the eye to the shady character in the center.
I only really started checking your stuff out because of the geo-url, checking out deviants near me, but I'm glad I did, especially when I see work of this quality.

Yeah, that's a live video of the song too. It didn't just show up on the sceenshot, so it looks like Windows Media Player is just rocking an audio file. Watching Mykey rock out is pretty funny.....mainly because he's so sensitive in between songs, hehe. The last time I saw them play, metal couples were practically making out when he talked. I guess it pays to be an emo metaldood. ha.
