Description Thylophorops was an extinct opossum that lived in Argentina between 3 - 2.5 million years ago (Pliocene), after the extinction of the sparassodonts; in contrast with its modern relatives the premolar and molar teeth are larger and sharper, an indication that it were mainly carnivorous. The species depicted here, Thylophorops lorenzinii, is based in a young individual, which have a weigth range estimated in 4 to 7 kg; is the largest opossum ever known.

Thylophorops fue un tipo de zarigüeya extinta que vivió en Argentina hace entre 3 a 2.5 millones de años (Plioceno), tras la extinción de los esparasodontes; a diferencia de sus parientes modernos sus dientes premolares y molares eran más agudos y grandes, lo que indica que eran principalmente carnívoros. La especie representada aquí, Thylophorops lorenzinii, se basa en un individuo joven, cuyo rango de peso se estima entre 4 a 7 kilogramos; es la zarigüeya más grande conocida.

Hehe, don't worry if some years has passed - after all comments are always open here. The largest estimate of weight for this animal is 8.6kg, according to a paper of 2014: link.springer.com/article/10.1…

Parecida aun zorro, principalmente carnivora o onmivora con tendencia a ser carnivora, por estas evidencia es que pienso que los esparasodontes son grupo artificial y sus  especies son marsupiales americanos muy modificados y especializados.  Muy bueno el dibujo sobretodo la mandibula

Gracias, aunque según los últimos análisis los esparasodontes si son un grupo natural, y sin relación directa con los marsupiales, creo que ningún especialista en el tema ha vuelto ha considerar la idea de que fueran marsupiales verdaderos.
