Wow, the level of realism in this render is tremendous, the materials and lighting are all top-notch.Β The character is beautiful, of course, and her pose, facial expression, and the direction of her gaze are all effective.Β I know you're not satisfied with the hair, but I think it is excellent and more realistic than the hair in most renders.Β Hair is still the least realistic aspect of most 3D rendered art, I think, but I can't detect many flaws in the hair in this render.
I like the composition, too, you could have went with a centered perspective but this turns out to be more interesting and seeing the spotlight behind her works well here (I know you needed to show the light to perform the testing you wanted to perform, but this slightly off-center perspective works from an artistic standpoint, too).
It's always a nice bonus when a render intended for practice and testing a turns out to be a solid image in its own right.

Fantastic artwork. A meeting room indeed. Will all the members of the board show up and expect to be taken care of?

Wow, that's good news. I like comics. In fact I've done a few essays (working on one now) and greatly enjoy Chemicq's "Universal Nations". Myturncoat also has published some funny erotic comics.

3d Art? Wow. I had to take a second and even a third look to see that it is. I thought it was photograph at first. Very nice work.

Thanks for sharing it. I really love those little background information and feel a little guilty not putting in more myself. So here it is.
1. Yes. And for the effort not enough control. Better suited to clothes, but the pipeline is still to slow and unstable to make me happy.
2.Β Β
3. Putting glass over a dark surface - may be obvious in afterthought, but great idea and it works really great.
The light setup is quite familiar. (my typical HDRI + rim/side/fill +optional godray/detail/object sources)
Render times. Oh well... 6 hours on CPU is quite okay ... I usually torment my GTX1080 overnight for anything from 6-18 hours, and rarely reach 5k iterations.
But I can usually tell after the first hundred if it's worth the bother (I learned that the hard way... once I rendered crap for 36 hours and to my surprise it stayed crap).
Oh well... the only thing that bugs me that no conference room I was ever in looked like that. Nor the team.Β Β

I use this hair a lot and trying to get a result fast is never going to work. I have sims running on my render farm than can take an hour, with the hair longer, and often need to run multiple passes mixing animated and static sims to get it to drape right. Granted I can do my sims on my render farm which has far more power, but they still take along time.
I feel the hair works better if you make it a touch longer and tweak everything yourself. It is a far more time and resource consuming effort than doing cloth, far more surfaces to collide.

This hair is the same piece, but much longer, after maybe 3 or 4 sims. If hair clumps up too much try and fiddle with the friction settings for each surface causing a problem, it may need to 'slip' more.
