Description
The reference for my drawing was originally a photo submitted to my latest Winter Contest. However, the minute I saw it I knew I wanted to use it for a nature themed drawing instead.I wanted to give depth to the clothing and bring out a beautiful green. I also did a lot to give the trees depth and structure.
I wanted that feeling of autumn, where the sky is grey and it is just about to rain. The leaves are falling and there is just that autumn feeling in the air.
As to her face I wanted to keep the shading rather light without too many heavy shadows.

I very much fell in love with her expression and wanted to do some more in the earth colours, which I have come to love a lot.
Made with soft pastels.

There's a little bit of a "twilight" feel to this pic... Its just... WOW. I dont know why but she kind of reminds me of the way I pictured bella the first time I read the book... before I saw the movie of course :]

Beautiful work! The only thing criticism I have regarding this extraordinary piece is that the groundcover is too uniform -- it could be broken up with patches of grass that still show hints of green or some scrubby undergrowth. The current groundcover, for me, resembles a carpet and that takes away from the wonderful illusion of a quiet woodland that you've created with the rest of this piece. Maybe the carpet-like groundcover was your intent, obviously I don't know, but regardless, this is a fabulous piece of art and you should be very, very proud of it!

I know what you mean, I feel happy how she turned out.
Actually I use a bit of everything. I have Cretacolors, Faber Castells, pencil ones and non-pencil ones. They all work fine together
I also think I have some Derwent pastels I think, for some of the nuances. I think mixing the brands is good because some are great at offering stronger colours while others are more natural and soft looking.
