As much as it SHOULD happen, the animated short will likely never replace the current anime. Best Wishes 2 has already been confirmed and all.

I imagine they did the short to show off the new games in a different style to separate it from the anime. The problem is, many fans have been waiting for a more story-driven anime for Pokemon for years. It just seems unfair that we have this dangled in front of our faces and then likely never heard from again because they have to continue to shove Ash down our respective throats.

I don't care if Ash has been in the anime since it began, he's a boring character. He just does the same things in every region, even down to the Pokemon he catches. I would have preferred if we got new characters every region. It would be better than having to stretch the story of a region for 3 years and in many episodes do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to make progress on the goal at hand. At least if they did the series this way, even if it had to be stretched over 3 years, it wouldn't be exactly the same as the last region since its not the same characters.

I kinda feel bad and happy at the same time....sad because I'm gonna miss Ash and I't feel strange without him...Happy because we actually see one of the playable characters from the game in the anime.

I am all for this. It has always been my belief that after 3rd gen, they should have started pulling a Doctor Who with the anime. Getting a new protagonist every new region. I mean, Ash is cool and nostalgic and all, but throughout Sinnoh you could practically feel the character drain from him, leaving behind this hyper, boring, and stupid husk to run about Unova.

I say Ash either gets a personality, or gets out.
