Description Better, of course, when viewed from a short distance. This is only 4"x6"--which means tiny little pieces! This took about 6 or 7 hours to cut and piece together, add in at least another hour to figure out layering. But it was fun! I've been dying to try out something like this for a while. For comparison purposes, the 8"x8" paper things I make take normally 40min-90min, depending on complexity, so it took a lot of patience to do this! I did it in two sittings, within a 18 hour period. (also, i fixed the foot that looks white and fuzzy; perhaps I'll post a new picture later.)

For the record, yes, this is inspired by part of a paint-by-number, mostly because of a deal my mom and I had*. I certainly intend to make my own from pictures (yay) soon, which I do believe is quite manageable...and of intricacy of my choosing, I hope. We'll see!

Made from cardstock.

*See the quilt my mom made from this here!

im sure it took loads of patience to arrange all those islands! i did a portrait like this once and there weren't a whole lot of them but man they were frustrating.

Yes, placing all the little pieces is definitely the hardest part!

Amazing use of different coloured paper! Great work in cutting it in pieces and in creating the shadings for this elephant!

These are awesome. <3 What do you use to cut the cardstock?

Why thank you! I use a combination of scissors (large bought at meijer lol and small Ginger brand scissors) and a regular exacto knife to cut my cardstock. I much prefer scissors, but sometimes my pieces are just too small!
