Description Still loving that Dover book on Mandalas stained glass... This is a royalty-free design which is lovely...!

Simple, but surprisingly intricate. I probably should have cleaned it up a little more; the eyes are really lost in all the hair. Ah well! 5 hours to cut, plus another to clean it up, choose a background color, and glue it down. Crazy!

Also crazy is the upcoming hiatus in art The rest of my summer will be spent outdoors in a humid environment and thus not paper-cutting friendly, alas.

Your work is amazing! I have just checked out your gallery and I am amazed I particularly like this one.
I can see you have a deep relationship with paper

Why thank you! And yes, it may not be a *healthy* relationship with paper, but deep it certainly is!

I love it! Did you draw the lines before cutting?

Thanks! I actually try really hard /not/ to draw on the paper I'm cutting--I never can follow my own lines! Because I got the design from a book, I probably made a copy of the design and overlaid it on this paper. That always feels like cheating, but sometimes it's good for a sanity break from more difficult stuff

I get it. Maybe after you've got some practice with copying you can make designs yourselve

Aw, thanks! I'm pretty bummed I won't be able to make anything new for a while, also. It's probably for the best though, I need to catch up on real work I am definitely looking forward to coming home and making some new paper things!

Actually, the other direction! I'm at a biological station in northern Michigan where my cabin is right on the lake! Beautiful, but not a great place for paper, alas.
