Prism is a custom commission for

I had so much fun making this cutie patoot!

Construction ~

I had two new challenges with this commission, both making the prism necklace and the gorgeous translucent wings.

I sketched up the prism in SolidWorks (I'm in engineering, you can't blame me lol) and 3D printed it, to which I airbrushed and lacquered next. I then drilled a hole through the top as an anchor for a metal loop that the necklace threads through. The band is made from a thin but strong leather type material (not sure the exact type but I saw it on the shelf and thought it would work nicely).

Making the wings transparent was a completely new idea and challenge for me, and obviously was the funnest part of this commission. The embroidery around the perimeter has thin armature wire inside that supports the delicate structure. The mesh is a thin, translucent satin type material (again, I just look for things in the store that catch my eye, as most fabrics don't really have very specific labeling).

The mane was also an entirely different challenge that took a ton of time to complete. those zig-zags, man....
