Description Made in about 3 hours at one of ~Doujinshi-Ka 's magnificent paint workshops! Acrylic paint on a 30cm x 30cm x 5cm canvas. I used a ref for the building and the background colour.

It's gorgeous! Are you keeping the painting this way, or are you going to add the smudgy black smudge?

Thank you very much! And thanks for helping with it of course...

I think I'm keeping it this way. It's grungy enough for now. Besides, I already thought of other things I'd like to paint

Late reply...sorry

Alright! You're on the roll! Maybe we can paint together someday? (and make sushi? Now that I can actually taste it? ) haha

And I think it's a good idea to leave this painting as it is! It's awesome! Is it decorating one of your walls already?

Sushi! Nice idea... why didn't I think of that

I still gotta find the courage to hit another nail in the wall... =_=

How did you manage it to look crooked?
Very interesting work by the way.

Thanks for the comment!
You mean the cracks in the building walls? That was done with an old, dried-out brush. I also experimented with using white paint in layers over the spots which weren't detailed or cracked, which happened to add a lot of character. In the end I undid much of that with a brush that had too much red paint on it, but it added an extra layer of grittyness anyway.

I see, the idea is very original and yes the crakcs are part of it, but i meant the actual square canvas looking like it was hung from one of its corners, i assume you did hang it like this on an actual wall and this virtual presentation just emulates that real setting. In any case, that's what i consider to be the most creative part of it since the image does not only depicts a ruined building but the painting as a whole seems to share that decay and be just about to fall down too.

Ah, I have to admit my motives weren't that noble. The painting just was kinda boring upright.
Still, if I declare the rotation to be the finishing touch, then yes -- it's more decay. Which suits it fine indeed. Thanks for pointing that out.

I haven't hung it anywhere yet, but I intent to do it this way. Photograph was made on my balcony because of the better light there ^_^

I see, so it was the final touch of inspiration!
Did you want to make some political declaration or some statement about the condition of old buildings in suburban areas? ha, ha, anyway a red square is a very, very powerful form, you solved a hard challenge with these decisions.

No statement whatsoever. Just a brightly coloured painting to hang on my wall which is only brightly coloured on the outside

Thanks!

No problem.
I guess your room must have a cold colour, which makes some contrast with this red square.
